30,000 years in South America?
And this from Archaeology Magazine, no less... http://archaeology.org/news/1537-131120-south-america-migration-sloth "MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY—Paleontologists have unearthed more than 1,000 fossils from a bone bed at Arroyo del Vizcaíno in southern Uruguay. Many of the bones, which date to 29,000 to...

Re: Any verification on Azores pyramid?
This all makes sense - thanks. I'll turn down the excitement-o-meter to "standby".

...which is exactly why I was asking if there was any verification out there.

Re: Any verification on Azores pyramid?
Even with a dive you'll probably still end up with a Yonaguni situation. Some people will see "natural" and some will see "man-made." The image on this "looks" pretty regular, but I agree - there will be a lot of back and forth on this. A dive would seem to be in order.

Any verification on Azores pyramid?
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c16_1380022655&comments=1 The video, unfortunately for me, is in what I think is Portugese, but the sonar plot is interesting. However, I have not seen any mainstream media pick this story up, and haven't seen any verification. Any thoughts on how legit this claim ...

Re: Hueyatlaco: Anomolies and Orthodoxy
I see Calico mentioned above. I hadn't heard of this site but I love the fact that they take volunteer diggers. We should all meet out there and help out!

Re: Fawcett and Blavatsky
David Grann's "The Lost City of Z" was a sometimes harrowing account of recent attempts to retrace Fawcett's explorations. A good read.

Re: Hueyatlaco: Anomolies and Orthodoxy
An interesting synopsis of the history of the place as an archaeological site here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdA7f0lFd6E It would be good to know how accurate this youtube video is, because there are never any lies on youtube, right? Still, I found it helpful in summarizing the excavation hist...

Re: Hueyatlaco: Anomolies and Orthodoxy
It then necessarily accomodates a series of regressions and progressions in the same line of what now isn't development toward an outcome. "Evolution" that happens in a Yo-Yo trajectory is pretty hard to reconcile with the idea of gradual, (punctuated), incremental advance from simple to ...

Re: Hueyatlaco: Anomolies and Orthodoxy
if true, I don't see that it challenges evolution in any way. If you mean Evolution as an over-arching principle that runs through time, fine. But if you mean by "Evolution" what's usually taken to be synonymous with it (Darwin's Theory of Evolution), Hueyatlaco drives a stake through its...

...always the gentleman...
So - interesting site although if true, I don't see that it challenges evolution in any way. I do think that all dates are suspect and that more geological evidence should be brought to bear on orthodox archaeological dating per Schoch's work on the Sphinx.

Re: Solved: The Roman Jews of Tucson
" The details that stick in my craw about the Tucson assemblage, though, are the square and compass symbol (both Mormon and Masonic) and the dinosaur." Good point. Not many Jews are Masons are they? I can belive the idea about trading though. There is copper in those hills. And there was ...

Re: Making an impression
OA - OA, your defense of the accident with the bulldozer at Cahokia demonstrated that you have no judgment. Your assertion that I have zero excavation experience is not correct. I don't want to gain a doctorate in material culture preservation, I simply want to learn how to safely make a very good ...
