Re: Joke page
Traffic cop makes a routine stop at 3 am and finds an elderly gentlemen behind the wheel and enquires as to where he is heading at such an hour. 'I'm on my way to lecture about about the bad effects on the body of alcohol, smoking and late nights officer.' The cop looks at him. 'I see Sir, and just ...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
Warming temperatures will also increase the flow. Yes, they will indeed, higher temps is also almost certainly the reason for the reduced snowfall, that does not make CO2 the reason Min. Take what isn't mentioned in the report, it states the high summer temp as surprising when the glacier advanced....

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
Min, are they thining at the leading edge or further up? As I explained, an increase in mass at high levels will accelerate the flow, thus thining it. This is why the mass measurements are so important, thick, thin, fast or slow does not matter one iota. Are they gaining mass or losing it? That is t...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
And...until someone shows me pictures of a glacier which is getting thicker I will continue to look at the ones of glaciers shrinking and say - "there is LESS ICE." I did show you some earlier Min, on page one. The problem with CO2 supporters such as the CRU is that they have nailed their...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
So, it would seem to be sensible to factor in the variable nature of our sun in our long term weather analyses. Since many people believe that global warming is at least in part cyclical in nature, we must also expect that global warming will procede somewhat erratically, especially if it is influe...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
Yep! And the MMGW lobby recieves vastly more than the antis Min. But how do you explain that our meterological office states that GW has been virtually zero since 98, during which period atmospheric CO2 has risen by 30ppm? Those facts won't go away Min. If the MMGW lobby can't explain that anomally ...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
Which GRACE will settle once and for all Min. But whatever the outcome the results will be somewhat better than the IPCC's guesses I'll guarantee that, and despite temps remaining stable for some years and CO2 continuing to rise the money grabbers will still keep telling us it's all down to us, I'll...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
Now the question is -- what are we going to do about it? Now the answer is -- nothing. Min, thinning at the extremities has nothing what so ever to do with the total mass. Why do you think that an expensive satellite has been launched to monitor mass if checking the edges gave the answer? The Greel...

Re: Islam, the light of the world!
Why would any woman in her right mind want to revert back to a repressive tradition? It's always mystified me as to why a free person would want to be shackled. Both Islam and Judaism are male dominated and the women are raised to accept it. I've never forgotten the Pakistani male, I won't say man,...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
No Min, the key point is mass, whether they are gaining mass or losing it. GRACE is the first time it has been directly possible to measure ice mass. All previous measurements were incapable of more than estimating it. The recent correction on the Himalayas simply serves to demonstrate how inaccurat...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
Oh Lord Min, I wish you hadn't noticed that as it puts me into lecture mode! A wrming planet will result in an increase in total precipitation, for two reasons. 1. higher evaporative temps, 2. a reduction in atmospheric pressure. The precipitation will move to higher latitudes, resulting in an...

Re: Himalayan ice melt estimates get a major downsizing
Agreed Min, but according to reports I've read some are advancing, this is why the GRACE method is so much better, it measures mass! I would also point out that none of this proves MMGW only GW, currently we have, A Glaciers retreating in many parts of the world, B CO2 up and C temps down! Thus link...
