Re: Meteor
A remote location of impact has nothing to do with the importance of the event. (Except. maybe, in the eyes of a US TV evening news editor.) How many humans saw the Gulf of Mexico impact? No, remoteness has nothing to do with the "importance" of the event. But it does have to do with the ...

Re: Problematic Discoveries
Here is a surface find for which it can safely be said it is "provable Pleistocene" in age: https://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/06/110622-mammoth-bone-oldest-art-americas-science/ You cannot say that about the so-called art shown at the portable rock art page. You cannot, general...

Re: Problematic Discoveries
Shawomet, Thanks for your comments. Jack has described quite a few artifacts seen on the Portable Rock Museum site gallery as "provable Pleistocene." I think your blanket rejection of all the pieces as natural rocks may be premature. One example, the very pure red jasper hammerstone (grou...

Re: Problematic Discoveries
Hello Cicumspice, Shawomet, Minimalist, and Simon21, I appreciate your taking the time to review the subject images posted on the Portable Rock Art Museum site. I am certainly not surprised at the unanimous reaction to those images. Granted, some of the images are not crisp, but many are in proper ...

[urlhttps://www.rockartmuseum.com/][/url] Hello Shawomet, Thank you for your response. I do not feel I have been mistreated by you despite your resolute stance of skepticism concerning claims and speculations I have made in this thread. I have absolutely no problem with your opinions and I respect ...
Re: Meteor
I've collected meteorites for 35 years, so maybe I can fill in for E.P. now and then, lol. This particular event was notable, but I think it generated bogus hype because of the nearby base. And, as noted, not many people around to witness it. There may be fragments on the ground, and there is a dedi...

Re: Gobekli tepe Receives World Heritage Status
I don't know anything about the guides at Gobekli tepe, but "we don't know" is perfectly acceptable when that is the most honest answer. And sometimes it is the most honest answer. At least where prehistory is concerned, there will always be far more that we don't know then we do know. So ...

Re: More Adena monoliths
Sometimes interesting discussions have taken place on this board. And I don't wish to be too judgemental, because I can fly off the handle as easily as the next guy, but, that said, who in their right mind would want to read the comments that have ensued as a result of a couple of people going at it...

Gobekli tepe Receives World Heritage Status
As of 7/1/18, UNESCO has added Gobekli tepe to the World Heritage list. In reading this, I also learned for the first time that the Turkish government, in its effort to develop the site as a tourist destination, damaged the site to some degree. https://www.dailygrail.com/2018/07/gobekli-tepe-receive...

Re: More seafaring hominids
I agree that last paragraph is the most important. And science, after all, is supposed to be self correcting. And while the dates are far younger then the dates highlighted here, this realization that sea faring abilities were present far earlier then earlier consensus opinion, made it easier to not...
