Re: This just sounds so right...

Lord, a guy can't even tie one on anymore without city council having to call a meeting. They'll make him see a shrink and join AA and be treated like the town drunk.

Re: Cooking Made Us Human?

http://johnhawks.net/node/2009 I found this very interesting. I'm gonna order the book. I also found his site quite interesting, he has a lot of links, even though some are kinda old. Keep us posted on the book, I have already added it to my wish list. Aleady have too many unread books to think abo...

Very interesting, and quite possibly one of the major keys in the evolutionary process. I've always wondered what drove one species to rapid change, while another barely changes at all. Now, maybe there is an answer to that. Me too. It may also explain the vast diversity in humans. But I would hate...

I'm still plowing through "1421," and at the rate I'm going may never get to "1434" (next on the shelf) not to mention "1491" next to it.

Maybe I'm reading in the wrong direction? :?

The coming west by boat idea is looking pretty good. Would certainly shorten the travel time and of course they would be landing on the east coast. Maybe someone else said "go west young man, go west" much earlier than we thought.

I too, have read all her books. Even when she comes up with something that sounds extremely far-fetched, when you start thinking about it you say "ummm, it could have come about something like that, makes sense." I mean, how much of what we now take for granted is the result of chance or a...

During the "cold war" people around here worried about someone bombing Oak Ridge (just up the road a spell.) Now if this thing blows; according to the maps, we here in Tennessee will be right in the path. I know I should have stayed in Los Angeles, all I had to worry about there -- earthqu...

Sounds a lot like "Holmberg's Mistake." The idea that the natives left no footprint on the land, because they could not control their environment. That they were mainly passive people with no history. According to him all natives were simple, gental people living in a form of paradise.

I watched that program this afternoon. Question: In order to have something like a "tunnel" don't you have to have something it goes through. Don't you need walls ceilings and a floor to drag the blocks on. How did that stuff get there and why bother to make a tunnel to build something alr...
