That wasn't what I was questioning, Min. Why is a Jewish encyclopedia using references to the NT? The other thing is it says Caiphas was Josephus?????? Is that confirmed other places?

Knol from google is coming out (it's already out but just sort of starting). Supposed to be another online encyclopedia but they're hoping to attract professionals by paying for articles thru ads. Might want to check it out.

Regardless, the creator god to the Jews in the 1st century bc would have been Yahweh. That is why I said in my viewpoint a sect of Jews not affilliated with the gnostics came up with the story of Jesus - to basically combat the influence the gnostics were having and showing Yahweh was good. I still can't see how any group or sect that would claim the OT god Yahweh was evil would even consider naming the central character of their story with anything to do with Yahweh - ie Jesus - unless he was supposed to be evil.
