Re: YD impact evidence at Topper

These artefacts were found embedded in suevite rock, which formed as a result of the impact of meteorites.
I guess that's where I went wrong. I know little about impact terminology.

Re: YD impact evidence at Topper

Thanks a lot EP. In fact these tools and this particular version of HE has been discussed at Dr. Steve Wangs forum on Southeast Asian Paleoanthropology. The fact that these tools were found in meteorite residue was not however. It seems possible that these folks may have been exterminated at that si...

Re: Tasmanian Site Discovery

I was catching up on my reading here in the forum, and noticed this thread. So I thought I might add something. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistory_of_Australia Although Oz has been connected at times with both Tasmania and New Guinea, they are still isolated from the rest of the world by about ...

Re: YD impact evidence at Topper

Sure don't know where the marijuana reference comes from EP. I sure never use it, and the Tea Party is not involved with that in any way. In any case, Min asked a simple question, and I gave him a VERY brief answer. Nothing to get upset about. Let's get back now to impacts. I would very much like yo...

Re: YD impact evidence at Topper

Not much Min. I haven't learned any great secrets out there. I'm more confused about genetics than ever, but I know that we still have much to learn about this young science. I'm also certain that the X-woman from Siberia is not a new Hominid species. Looks like it's a Neanderthal with a previously ...

Re: YD impact evidence at Topper

Hello EP, nice to meet you. I don't know anything about the Malaysian impact I'm afraid. I've only kept up with news about the YD impact. I was at Topper when Al Goodyear first told me about it during supper one evening, and I've never lost interest. Please let us know about it though as it probably...

Re: YD impact evidence at Topper

Hi Dig. I'm doing the same as always. I am in several scientific forums, usually reading and learning. Currently I like paleoanthropology, southeast asian paleoanthropology in particular, and a genetics forum. I still look in here regular to see what's going on. I'm not getting any younger, that's f...

Re: YD impact evidence at Topper

I read that article too Min. Falling on the heels of that take on the YD impact, the Royal Astronomical Society is getting in the act. http://cosmictusk.com/royal-astronomical-society-touts-new-napier-paper-in-p New theory suggests that earth was struck by a number of Tunguska like impacts over abou...

Re: Global warming.

Good article Digit. I worry that there are too many people out there that think GW is not happening at all. On the other hand, I
worry that almost nobody realizes how close we are to the next Ice Age. Check out the Milankovitch Cycle.

See you later Dig.

Re: Global warming.

I'm surprised at this recent article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article7026317.ece I've always felt that global warming is a reality, just not man-made. The earth, in my opinion, has been slowly warming for the last 20,000 years, interrupted by the Younger Dryas. Unfortunatel...

Merry Christmas everybody. Still waiting on that last 30% of the Neanderthal genome. It's coming in a few months reportedly.
I'll be back then. Have fun friends.
