There certainly should be and one of the first should be the complete banning of foul language when communicating with people.

A little respect and civility would go a long way.

And while on the subject David Reich's Who we are and how we got here has just been launched in the UK and gets a favourable review in the LRB - be interesting to hear from anyone who has read it.
