While British & French did indeed loot Egypt & other colonial possessions, the Rosetta Stone was looted from its original location in antiquity, possibly late antiquity,
inferring that the Arab conquerors did the original looting. Try to keep the facts straight rather than relying on your typical, uninformed knee jerk reactions...

Sorry? The Rosetta stone was carved in Egypt , by Egyptians was stolen and is now in the British Museum - so what is your point?

That Egypt changed over time and did not maintain its Ptolemaic monuments?

Wow never go to Italy (seen the Colosseum lately?), Greece (the Parthenon) France, The UK (have you seen Stonehenge?)China, Nigeria or er the world.

But then we all know what yanks think of arabs - any arabs especially those that do not tow the line.

The stone was carved during the Hellenistic period and is believed to have originally been displayed within a temple, possibly at nearby Sais. It was probably moved in late antiquity or during the Mameluk period, and was eventually used as building material in the construction of Fort Julien near the town of Rashid (Rosetta) in the Nile Delta. It was discovered there in July 1799 by French soldier Pierre-François Bouchard during the Napoleonic campaign i

Well done! keep reading, who knows one day what passes for your mind might open and you eventually realise whitey is not always righty and people outside Hicksville Tennessee are entitled to keep their artifacts and argue for their return

Hey simple simon... If you're angling for a flame war I'm sorry to disappoint you. It's not going to happen. You can mutter & mumble to yourself to your heart's content. Happy holidays to ya little buddy. Adios.
