Have you ever wondered?

Have you ever wondered if some folk tales are part of an oral tradition about ancient hominids that survived for at least a short time after contact with HSS? Tales of ogres, trolls, golems, yetis, etc seem to be almost universal. We know we had close enough contact to breed with at least two other species of archaic Homo. Maybe those old folk tales are a garbled record of that contact.

Short answer is "Yes"

And not just hominids, but other vary common oral history subjects.
The flood, E.P.s impact stories, etc.

As the common saying goes,
"Where there is smoke, there is fire."

Yes and that is all it is. Legends are legends end of. There was a view some time ago that "goblins" were originally children who suffer from Progeria, or Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS), a god-awful condition. It is just speculation

You threw a question out there and I answered it.

But since you bring up medicine, it's history is full of "old wives tales" being proven true.

I don't know how many replies you'll get in French.
