Hello from Orkney Scotland

Post by Fivesenses »

Hello everyone - from the Orkney Islands.

About me: I specialise in teaching ancient crafts like friction fire making, natural cordage, primitive navigation and survival skills, stone tool working and so on - all in the landscape and vicinity of the neolithic sites here.

Emphasis is upon connecting with the environment - then and now - understanding the human relationship with the environment and learning from this for today's problems and lifestyle challenges.

So, we have Rites of Passage and Independence Outdoors courses and provide educational experiences for children and adults - plus some fun evening classes.

So - that is me and why I am here, living and breathing archaeology.

Hi Malcolm,
I'm in Bannockburn myself. Good to see another Scot in here! 8)

Hello Gordon,
Good to meet you.
I will be in touch, once I settle in.
Internet is a good socialising and educational medium during these winter months to come.

Welcome, Scot dudes! I'm looking forward to your input. I'm from Texas, myself, but I am of Scottish descent. I am very interested in the work that is going on there. Keep us updated on your local projects. Don't be shy. :D

Cheers Frank.
There's a dig going on just now at the local farm where my daughter's horses are stabled, the farm being on part of the actual field of Bannockburn.
I'll try harder to question them next time and let you know what's up.

Hi - well by next week we should have a report on how the years archaeology has gone, here on Orkney - it has been very busy - so, keep watching.
