As the shockwave can theorectically compress a planet's atmosphere I wonder if it could actually strip a planet of it's atmosphere Monk?

Yes it can. But usually it occurs to stellar companions which are in close proximity to the nova.

Well, I started the thread, so I think I'm entitled to at least try to 'massage' the general direction of its flow. But of course I fail miserably. 8) Falling prey to my own tangential preoccupations. Though not really minding it.
