My National Geographic GENO 2.0 Results

Here's where you get off topic and off center....Keep it nice, keep it clean, no sniping, no flaming. After that, anything goes.

My National Geographic GENO 2.0 Results

Post by Barracuda »

I got back my results from my Nat Geo GENO 2.0 DNA test. Mostly boring, and not surprising. An almost perfect match for modern German.

Me = 44% Northern European
36% Mediterranean
19% South-West Asian

German = 46% Northern European
36% Mediterranean
17% South-West Asian

UK= 49% Northern European
33% Mediterranean
17% South-West Asian

Only 2.3% Neanderthal, which is on the low side for a Western European. I was surprised by that. I have been called a Neanderthal so many times!

The only interesting thing was supposedly 3.8% Denosovian. Very high for a Western European

The Northern European comes from the original hunter/gathers of Europe

I guess the Mediterranean comes from the Romans?

The South-Western Asian is from the original first farmers from the Fertile crescent that spread al over Europe.

No Native American, which surprised me, given my Mother's family's oral traditions, and my own complexion.

Not really sure how much confidence I have in the findings, but it was worth a couple hundred bucks to find out.

Any one else done the DNA test?

I am waiting on the results ..I did the ancestory.com DNA test. It's more of a geneological tool..I doubt very much I will get any neanderthal genetic breakdown. But then I did not pay as much for the test as you did..Also I believe this ancestory.com organization is run by Mormons..They are obsessed with genealogy but anthropology, not so much.
No offense meant to any Mormon anthropologists.
I will post what I can.The results should be back in about 6-8 weeks..

Not too surprising. Most northern Europeans have substantial Mediterranean, and SW Asia from the agricultural movement about 10,000 years ago
