don't lump me in with him. why would he be my pal? yes, i think he is off, based upon his conclusions and research not for some unrealistic reason.

Understand that he's one of the guy's trying to prove that the Exodus happened....even if he has to re-write the bible to do it. That is the sort of nut-job that your side attracts.

If you want to disown him, be my guest.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

i had many problems with is work, especially the greek conection, which made me laugh and remove him from the credible list.

though i can see a 1500 b.c. date for the exodus, i don't think there is enough definitive evidence to accurately place the exodus at any one time frame.

i can see thera being used for the plagues but not the red sea parting but again, i take into account dendrochronology among other facts as making that event highly improbable.

yet above all, jacobovich could not present his argument in a manner that was credible, so he doesn't attract me, he just makes me roll my eyes and want to puke.
If you want to disown him, be my guest.
he makes some good points but not enough to take seriously as a whole, so i don't support him but i would consider some of the points he raised including the E.A.A.'s attitude concerning the evidence found that would undermine arab dominance of the region.

That's all well and good.

But mainstream archaeology has written off the Exodus and the rest of it as mythology.

Simcha and Pellegrino are the ones out there claiming to be looking to prove the Exodus account.

They never seem to come up with much in the way of sustainable evidence though.

you are misleading there, making it sound like all archaeology has dismissed the exodus, when in reality it are those who adhere to the minimalist point of view only.

i certainly do not write off the exodus nor does kitchen, hoffmeier among man, many others.
Simcha and Pellegrino are the ones out there claiming to be looking to prove the Exodus account.
pellegrino is a volcanoist and does his best with the evidence at hand yet his views must be taken in light of other people's work. jacobovich, i don't even pretend to know what his motivations are in producing such a work. nor even consider him qualified to produce such a documentery.

humphreys puts together a very good case but again his thinking boils down to what evidence is being looked for, the answering of questions like; did God use natural means and not the supernatural; among other factors.

You are incorrect and Finkelstein is not even considered a member of the minimalist school as Davies and Lemche are.

i think one reason some archaeologists aren't looking is due to the arab restrictions on what they can and can't do.
They never seem to come up with much in the way of sustainable evidence though
what evidence do you want? humphreys does a very good job in explaining his thesis and maybe you should read his book to see what he has to say. he is logical and rational if not plausible as an option.

You make excuses for your inability to find evidence....yet other cultures have left artifacts all over the landscape.

There is a logical conclusion there but I'm sure it would never occur to you because it would mean tossing your bible in the trash.

yet you are forgetting that the Israelit culture initially developed under egyptian rule and egyptian influence. plus they were slaves with little or no rights toproduce their own wares.

so again, what evidence would you be looking for? foreskins?

Even slaves would have put their individual marks on the personal possesions. They may not have had the chance to develope their own culture before entering Egypt, but they certainly would have adapted the Egyptian culture to fit their own beliefs. That is why so much of their religion reflects Egyptian religion.

Israelite culture developed in Canaan in the eastern Hill country. Only unrepentant bible-thumpers still maintain the Egyptian connection and they do so with no evidence to support their position.

The foreskin line was great, Leona!

yes that is a possibility and probably did take place but to what extent would that adaption go? as an example:

i live in another country and on the surface it would still be difficult to distinquish me from a native. i drive a korean car, buy korean products, live in a korean made home among other things korean which still fit within my beliefs plus there are koreans as tall as me.

so what evidence i leave behind would be minimal to indicate that i was a foreigner with a christian belief system. plus, don't forget that the christian belief makes up 33 1/3 of the population here (yes for some reason they divide it equally among the three major belief systems in the country).

so again it would be difficult to find evidence that would definitively say, yes there were israelites present in egypt. (now again this is my theory which may be shared by others, i haven't investigated to see how widely held it is)

Pages and pages of christian horseshit
maybe not horse*** but it is left on a website which would not be highly valued as evidence since my real name does not appear on any of the posts.

It was actually arch who wrote the foreskin line. Good one arch! I think we're rubbing off on him a little, Bob. He's funny sometimes now. ON PURPOSE!

Damn. You're right. Who'd a thunk it!

We have to teach Leona how to quote.
