When it comes to religion no one has cornered the market on "ludicrous."
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Jacobovici was just on Anderson Cooper. Conceded that he was a 'journalist' not an archaeologist. Thus he claims to be merely reporting what statisticians reported.
(Of course, he hired the statisticians......)

personally I dont care wether they did find jesus even if he had his passport on him and a list of is dna tracing him back to some other irrelevant red sea pedestrian
the Jews themselves didn't think he was the messiah so whatever the case he is not the son of god
that claim went to Shimon bar Kokhba who took jerusalem from the Romans in 130ce
now he did fulill all the prophecies
and was known as the messiah thorughout Israel
he is attested in roman accounts and written about in numerous other sources that prove he was a reality
something which people of faith like to overlook
can't have two messiahs can ya
especially when the second one does more to prove he is than the first who when you study Kokhba, Jesus appears to be a rank amateur
don't see any plans by simcovici to make a film about him though
probably wouldn't rake in much money
like a real person who did real things in the real world
who'd be interested

If you go to all the trouble to claim Jesus is the messiah and was raised from the dead, and its all a hoax (btw, how many of you would die for a hoax like all the disciples except John), why bury the body where it is likely to be found. Further, if Jesus was walking around with a wife and kid and a group of guys were going around claiming he had risen and gone to heaven, don't you think someone would have said, you idiot, he's my neighbor.
The early christians were not discredited nor were they swayed under threat of execution from their belief.

Those "disciples" appear to be a later rip-off of an idea from Mithraism. Mithras also had twelve "companions."

Oddly enough, if there was one point in their history when the Jews did not need a messiah it was during the reign of Tiberius. The Roman army had kept the Parthians away for a century. The land, with Herod's port of Caesarea Maritima booming, was prosperous. The Roman Prefect maintained his headquarters in Caesarea rather than Jerusalem where the Sanheddrin had local control. The Romans had granted them exemptions from the worship of Roman gods and the Roman Army was posted in Syria keeping an eye on the aforementioned Parthians. The first hints of trouble came when there were anti-jewish riots in Alexandria by Egyptians who were pissed at what they perceived were favorable treatment given to the jews late in the reign of Caligula.

YOu mean about the Jews?
One day when I was still working we had a great lunch time discussion about anti-semitism ( we didn't always talk about pussy and beer!). One of the jewish guys was saying that anti-semitism was a christian thing and another guy piped up with " yeah...how come, no matter where you go, sooner or later someone says ' Let's get 'em, boys! ' How come that always happens to you people? "

what would you do to prove otherwise

Take the case of Poland Min. At one time the aristocracy spent their time in war or practising war and had no interest in learning. Their estates were run by Jews who were chattels to be bought and sold with the estates.
They were the doctors who kept the bosses alive and the estate managers and the tax collectors. That made them very unpopular with the peasents who took revenge at the first opportunity.
Similar practices existed in England till all Jews were expelled because the King owed them vast amounts of money and the King then didn't have to pay them back.
Good fiscal arrangement you must agree.

They usually have no choice. The christians did.marduk wrote: ask a soldier
I think you could be right at a time when Antiochus Epiphanes or Augustus ruled and polytheism was a forced religion. It is reasonable the jews could have represented an opposition to the dogma of the day. But this doesn't make sense in the modern (so-called) christian era. There is some other reason the jews have felt the wrath of their fellow human beings, I can't for the life of me figure out why for nearly two millenia, they've been maligned where ever they turn up.my god is better than your god

its because theyre easy targets
they only had their own nation relatively recently
you can fuck over a people who have no central organisation as much as you want and you dont get Mossad targeting your government
and you can blame them for your own misgivings like Hitler did
it wasn't his countries fault the people were starving because of reparations they made for losing the first world was
it was the Jews
