At roughly the same time, a young Mark Lehner was selected by Hugh Lynn Cayce, Edgar Cayce’s son and heir, to become the ‘inside man’ in Egyptology for the Association for Research and Enlightenment, which had been founded by the senior Cayce in 1931. The ARE paid for Lehner to attend the American University at Cairo, and in 1974, according to Picknett and Prince, he wrote: that "the great pyramid was built as a repository of knowledge, and a temple of initiation for the White Brotherhood." It was also in that year that Lehner met Hawass, and the following year, introduced Hawass to his benefactor, Hugh Lynn Cayce.

Only three years later, SRI – now doing resistivity technology studies on the Great Sphinx, and funded by the ARE – discovered subterranean anomalies which appeared to represent cavities. According to Picknett and Prince, this discovery spurred Hugh Lynn Cayce into founding, in 1978, the Sphinx Exploration Project in an attempt to verify his father’s predictions about the Sphinx and the Atlantean Hall of Records, and he enlisted not only SRI but the Egyptian Antiquities Organization (the forerunner of the Supreme Council of Antiquities), represented by none other than Mark Lehner and Zahi Hawass. Shockingly, the team discarded their previous non-invasive techniques and began drilling beneath the right paw of the Sphinx. Nevertheless, while some additional ‘anomalous chambers’ were discovered, there was no Hall of Records.

Not sure what disturbing news you reference. It is well known that Lehner once worked with A.R.E. and it was that research, which converted him to mainstream egyptology.

I didn't know he was bought and paid for. There is some strange history at Giza, under the Sphinx, and the one time Hawass allowed some folks to film the "Tomb of Osiris" as he calls it.

And how the A.R.E. was down there before anybody. I don't think I'll post it again, as it's a bag of worms with a lot of accusations. But there is little doubt of the Cayce influence at Giza.

Beags, Giza is pretty much screwed up. To me, there is too much credence given to latter-day "experts" as opposed to those who investigated the monuments in the first place. A good example would be Sir Flinders Petrie who did the original survey. We have no Petries on site today.

It has long been believed that the Romans were the first to employ structural concrete in a big way, although the technology may have come from the Greeks.

A handful of determined materials scientists are carrying out experiments with crushed limestone and natural binding chemicals - materials that would have been readily available to ancient Egyptians - designed to show that blocks on the upper reaches of the pyramids may have been cast in place from a slurry poured into wooden molds.

These researchers at labs in Cambridge, Philadelphia and St. Quentin, France, are trying to demonstrate that Egyptians of about 2,500 B.C. could have been the true inventors of the poured substance that is humanity's most common building material.

How hard can it be? Someone simply (?*) climbs to the top, dodging the guards' bullets, chips off a sample, attaches it to a helium balloon and let's it go, so that his accomplice, a mile away, can shoot it down and collect the sample for testing.
It's a regular scene from Indiana Jones V...

*I tried it once on Khefren's pyramid... I was pooped by the time I had scaled even TWO tiers of those 6 foot blocks. Anyone will surely croak from a heart attack before they even get to the 5th tier. Never mind trigger-happy guards! They are just a mild inconvenience in that scenario. Well, not even that: those poor excuses for soldiers can't hit an elephant at 10 paces anyway.

Actually, I believe they have done sampling of some of the higher tier, exact fitting, stones.
Working backwards from that is where they got their recipe for making their modern mix.
