Michigan

The Western Hemisphere. General term for the Americas following their discovery by Europeans, thus setting them in contradistinction to the Old World of Africa, Europe, and Asia.

This is one of those bridging of the Old World and the New World questions.

This is a news story that is a few weeks old.

Mexican turquoise from as far as northern Nevada.

Interesting in itself in what it says about long range trading routes, but my question has to do with the type of analysis to determine the origin of the turquoise.
My understanding is that in can be done on a number of different materials. Stone, volcanic glass, various metals.
My interest is in the Michigan copper mines and the theory that they were the source of all the copper needed for the Bronze Age to exist.
Has anyone seen any analysis of some of the copper “ox hide” ingots found in the various shipwrecks to determine a “for sure” location of their being mined?
