We're doomed! Again

Here's where you get off topic and off center....Keep it nice, keep it clean, no sniping, no flaming. After that, anything goes.

Glad I live on high ground.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

I have been preparing for years,
the world is in constant change,
civilizations comes ends all the time through history, and I see climate change as a driving force,
the next few years should be "interesting" just like in that Chinese curse,
"may you lead an interesting life"

increased glacial water flow will, at first, see a massive increase in Iceland's hydroelectric power potential.

Famers are also welcoming global warming as higher temperatures are good for business. Olafur Eggertsson has just produced Iceland's first home grown supply of wheat.

He said: "The positive effects of climate change are apparent as the growing season is now longer and we are able to grow crops on larger areas of land.

"This increases the domestic product. It's good for business."
God bless global warming.

Gentlemen! I make no claims to being a mathematician, but I can count the fingers on my hands, which this gentleman seems to be incapable of.
Please check me out.
The surface are of the world's oceans is calculated to be 360000000 square kilometres, plus another half inch for the Al Gores massive sea level rises!
The glacier according to the report is some 8000 square kilos and 900 metres thick.
I make that about 7200 cubic kilos in volume.
Allowing that to spread across the worlds oceans I make 20 Millimetres!
Like I said, please check me out.
The 900 metres in depth is at the deepest point, he makes no mention of its volume nor average depth, I wonder why?
Allowing that the glacier is wide spread it probably has a volume of half his figures. That makes the rise 10 Millimetres.
Allowing that that much ice is will only produce 90% water that makes it 9 Millimetres!
Any rise in sea level results in the water spreading sideways, also up rivers and into lakes, both of which also spread side ways.
This 7 metres look more like 7 Millimetres to me!!
If his case is so strong why the B/S?

Presumably other glaciers will keep melting at the same time, though.

It's not a localized problem.

Granted Min, and he may have meant that, but once again we have a press report that is less than clear.
Take a look at somebody's conversion of square Kilos into square miles!
