A developing story: retrace the Beagle

The three-mast, square-rigged schooner-clipper "Stad Amsterdam" ("City of Amsterdam") is en route. It is following in the footsteps of Charles Darwin as we speak and retraces the route the Beagle took. Witness it via

and a lot of radio and TV coverage.

Are the creationists following it in an "ark?"

Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Beautiful ship!

I'd love to see it under full sail.

If so Min it would pay to stay upwind of it whilst they are shovelling all the manure overboard.

In 1976, a few days after Operation Sail at the Bi-Centennial, I was driving along Ocean Parkway in NY on my way home from a meeting. As I made a turn into the Jones Beach area I caught sight of one of the tall ships. I pulled into the parking lot and there were 50 cars already there and people were standing on the dunes staring at this magnificent ship under full sail. She was beautiful. I wish I'd had a camera.

I heard they tried, but God sank 'em because he hadn't ordered them to do it.
Supernatural selection.

In that case you really should check out http://beagle.vpro.nl/#/page/item/12/english/, Sam. it's got videos and LIVE streaming cams of the 'Stad Amsterdam' under full sail, now en route to south America. Real science, adventure, and history all rolled into one, and developing as we speak! From your armchair!
Only being there IRL could be better (unless you're prone to seasickness... )

They mark our passage as a race of men Earth will not see such ships as those again.

Masefield had it aright.

Some used the term

"The days of wooden ships and iron men."
