Re: Neandertal tech raised a notch
We need an HE DNA sample to find out where we (all) came from.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

And the earlier the better IMO.

Yes.
How hard could it be to find one?

Dunno Min, but if they can reclaim HSN DNA, unless there is a shortage of specimens of HSS of similar, or earlier age, it should be possible.
Without such the story is only half told.

Not impossibly hard if they can find DNA samples of other fauna that's millions of years old.Minimalist wrote:We need an HE DNA sample to find out where we (all) came from.

So it's just a matter of time before they do.
But I've already welcomed HE in our evolutionary family tree as gramps and as the conqueror of the world. Maybe I should have a painted portrait of him over my fireplace.

I think that's a common sense view RS, but it might take the club a little longer to come to the same conclusion, about 50 yrs probably! But I've already welcomed HE in our evolutionary family tree

Very forward-looking of you, R/S.
Perhaps you need to spend some time in the bible-belt where they have pictures of Adam and Eve over the fireplace... err....barbeque pit.

Re: Neandertal tech raised a notch
I'm waaay ahead of you: I did already. For years I was forced to pray six times a day and attend daily catechisation and sermons when I attended a Reformed (= orthodox protestant) boarding school in the bible belt (our bible belt; yes, we have one too, as probably many countries do). A boarding school which was otherwise modelled after Eton, Harrow, and the like. I was primed to become a frugal, God-fearing Calvinist (boy did they get that wrong!Minimalist wrote:Perhaps you need to spend some time in the bible-belt where they have pictures of Adam and Eve over the fireplace... err....barbeque pit.

It'll be nice to have somebody else over the fireplace for a change.
And I made Gramps' portrait myself too...!

So that would make the choice come down to between this

...and Anna Nicole Smith!

Hmmm, tough choice.

Not really....although Gramps was smarter.
