Long, but an interesting account

The Western Hemisphere. General term for the Americas following their discovery by Europeans, thus setting them in contradistinction to the Old World of Africa, Europe, and Asia.

It disproves the quote attributed to Custer.

"Easy men, I think those are friendly Indians."
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Prince Bernhard received a $1.1 million bribe from Lockheed to ensure the Lockheed F-104 would win out over the Mirage 5 for the purchase contract. He had served on more than 300 corporate boards or committees worldwide and had been praised in the Netherlands for his efforts to promote the economic well-being of the country.

Prime Minister Joop den Uyl ordered an inquiry into the affair, while Prince Bernhard refused to answer reporters' questions, stating: "I am above such things". The results of the inquiry lead to a constitutional crisis in which queen Juliana threatened to resign if Bernard would be prosecuted. Bernard was spared, but had to step down from several public positions and was forbidden to wear his military uniforms again.

Prince Bernhard always denied the charges, but after his death on December 1, 2004, interviews were published showing that he admitted taking the money. He said: "I have accepted that the word Lockheed will be carved on my tombstone."
Can't you come up with anything better than a 40 year old scandal?
FYI: there is a difference between an incident and a trend. Example: we had one prince, not an Orange!, on the take in a century, while e.g. Saudi Arabia has had 40,000 'princes' on the take in that same century.
We dealt with it, you see.
BTW, none of the programmes you listed are on BBC here tonight, sorry.
Mislaid your glasses again, Roy?
• "Strictly come dancing, Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly present a special Vegas spectacular in Blackpool", 18.30, BBC1, http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/programmes/ ... 2010/11/20
• "Dad's Army, The Big Parade, Walmington-on-Sea has a parade to mark War Weapons Week", 19.50, BBC2, http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/programmes/ ... 2010/11/20

A sure sign of guilt!

Oh sorry, that's true of course. Apparently you don't get the BBC proper but adapted regional programming. So you have a rerun tonight of the 1974 Welsh sheepdog championships or a live report of the regional darts face-off at the local?

A last comment about the Battle and how a "fading Bully" treated "our little Red brothers"----Chief Sitting Bull and Chief Crazy Horse were lured back to a reservation with hopes for much needed food and warm clothing for their tribes. Unarmed---Sitting Bull was shot and Crazy Horse was bayonetted in the back---that was almost as bad as seeing the Kenyan bow to an arab prince

A different era gunny, not right by today's standards but few countries at the time were acting differently I'm afraid.

Psychos who insist, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, that Obama is a muslim born in Kenya.

They have been laughed out of every court except the Republican party....which willingly gathers nuts.
