So far, simon,
not one early Anglo Saxon jewelry workshop from you.
Not one.

Neither mints nor weapons workshops are
jewelry workshops.

And iron is not gold.

IN addition,
you've demonstrated of your inability to read Latin,
along with a lack of knowledge of fundamental texts for Anglo Saxon history

No it is not. But it is as good a place as any to point out the effects of racism

Ho ho my Latin is way better than your English
The test cited by you proved me totally and completely right as does all the evidence as you have conceeded.
You didn't contest the BM Curator.
All you have is rambling and endless repetition.
Fancy Posting you tube vids where the narrator cannot even pronounce
the place she is talking about

Tell us I ask for information only

Did these giants shout "fi fie fo fum, I smell the blood of an Ohian" [doesn't quite work]

Do they have a giant beanstalk in Ohio - is it not a hazard to air traffic?

I apologise to others who read these boards but I do have an impish sense of humour and this is simply too good to pass up - as when we were told this individual had an ancestor known apparently (and unfortunately) as Johnny Blackeyes - presumably from overindulging himself

As a somewhat long reader of this site.
I believe E.P. has said he lives in Illinois.
He has a deep interest in, and problems with the establishment, in Ohio.
But he doesn't live there.
They are two very different places, both then and now.

I will resume my seat on the sidelines.

The conversion

This is a complicated topic and one that needs considerable background reading.

There are a number of key points to be made however.

1. We know, c that there were christians in Wales and parts of Northern Britain. Bede refers to Augustine summoning British bishops to a meeting. So we know this British church was episcopal. We also know it had monasteries since some 1500 monks are said to have been killed at the battle of Chester in 616 (some twenty years after the landing of St Augustine)

2. We also know that there Irish monks and missionaries trying to convert from the North.

Our problem is that we do not know the rite the different aspects of Christianity followed. We know the Irish had a different Easter date to the Orthodox church. What date the British church used we canont tell. The Irish also used a different tonsure and seem to have pushed the idea of personal confession and penance.

These issues were of course resolved in the Synod of Whitby (664) where King Oswiu decided to go with Peter (and orthodoxy) who did after all hold he keys of heaven.

Then there is the question of how Augustine knew where to site his bishoprics. How did he know York would make a new archbishopric? It seems he must have had some list. This adds to the theory that some Romano British towns had become religious centres. Bath is often cited as one.

Archaeologically things are obscure. Birling points out in Dorset a Roman cemetery where there were paths leading to three graves. These paths had had their flagstones replaced in the fifth century. She claims the graves were possibly venerated as Saints and were being visited by pilgrims. The fact that christians gnerally di dnot have grave goods makes it difficult to come to defnite conclusions. I have mentioned earlier (s a non sequitur) the curious Kentish and East Anglian practice of placing ceneteries in vantage points and obliging travellers to come through them. This is certainly not a christian rite.

But both Bede and Augustine (his letters) are adamant that the main population of Britain were pagans. Interestingly though he cites onloy one pagan incident - where a converted pagan priest proved his conversion by riding a horse - apprently not done by the pagan priesthood. But the fact that this is the only incident Bede cites may indicate he did not actually know any pagan rituals but was relying on a written source. It was of course not his role to celebrate pagan practices.

He seems also to have problems in Maryland. That leaves fifty states to go. He will certainly have big problems if he goes to Israel, Scotland or Ireland and starts expounding his weird views.

simon, your ignorance of Native American archaeology
is exceeded only by your ignorance of sub roman Britain.
In this case, you are completely ignorant of
the standard college introductory test to Adena archaeology,
"Mounds for the Dead" by Dragoo and Neuman.

You have not provided one early anglo saxon site that has a jewelry workshop, simon.
Your insults are no substitute for that data, simon.

Hi kb -

The only problems I have with the "establishment" here in Ohio
is that they keep complaining to me about
Brad Lepper and the Ohio Historical Society.

Well at least I don't contradict myself and get myself thrown out of historical societies and humiliated by native Americans by making false claims.

Oh dear Eddie's upset. You have accepted the BM material so all you are doing is endlessly repeating ourself for no purpose. Maybe you did have a stroke?

Incidently I did show one of your youtube vids to a friend who lives in the area. Hearing the presenter mispronounce the very name of the area caused loud laughter.

And your anti-semetism and homophobia are fact written out of you own dirty mind

I knew you were bullshit, simon
when you claimed to know the Patrick materials,
and claimed no mention of the Druids.
The Druids attempt to poison Patrick is well known
to those familiar with the Patrick materials.

Here's some more Latin for you to be unable to read, simon. This bit from Fredegar, with more to come.

AN. DLXXXVII. Anno 27 ejusdem regni Leudisclus a Guntchramno patricius partibus Provinciae ordinatur. Filius Childeberti regis Theodobertus natus fuisse nuntiatur.

VI. Eo anno nimia inundatio fluminum in Burgundia fuit, ut eorum terminos nimium transcenderent. Ipsoque anno Syagrius comes Constantinopolim jussu Guntchramni in legatione pergit, ibique fraude patricius ordinatur. Coepta quidem est, sed ad perfectionem haec fraus non peraccessit.

Eo anno signum apparuit in coelo: globus igneus decidens in terram cum scintillis et rugitu; ipsoque anno Levildus rex Spaniae moritur, et regnum obtinuit Richaridus filius ejus.

Yu are just picking up words mate no coherence or cohesion.
