Going Forward
I've exchanged some PMs from the powers-that-be and the intention is to pick up the pieces and carry on. One of the immediate issues is to sort through roughly 400 notifications to register. Obviously, a lot of these are spammers who would wreck the board in no time if allowed free access.
One part of the plan seems to be to create a new group for new registrants which would monitor them for the first 10 posts or so to make sure they aren't hawking Russian porn sites or something. That sounds like a reasonable idea.
Stay tuned for updates.

Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Re: Going Forward
Not to mention former board members who were kicked... It's gonna be a big mess for a while. I certainly wouldn't want to be a responsible party here if and/or when the fringe nuts hear about Michelle's demise. It will be a freaking feeding frenzy... Just imagine who'd be back to promote their agendas...

The "PTB" (Powers That Be) need to set up a vetting process that will prevent kicked former board members from returning. I'd hate to see this board be taken over by the fringe now that Michelle is no longer here to
oversee the membership vetting process.

I killed my first two spammers today. Both Russian spambots. I imagine they were both pushing Trump.
Anyway, a real feeling of power!

Great Min! Terminate with extreme prejudice! Get medieval with them. Too bad you can't physically pillory them in public... *sigh* I'll just have to fantasize... (I hate spammers)

Re: Going Forward
Good Afternoon,
One of the new overlords here, from the Archaeological Legacy Institute!
We are working on how to manage the forums going forward since we are planning to continue the work that Michelle was doing in honor of her memory! As well as finishing up a new version of her website that we've been working on for the past year or so.
Working with Minimalist to ban those that threaten the hallow halls of this fine forum to the best of our ability! Go easy on them though, until we devise a way to increase our moderation team to help support a vibrant and growing forum community!

Well said J Peters. It's going to be a long, hard row for you to hoe... Michelle has giant shoes for you & the rest of her colleagues to fill... I hope that y'all are up to the task & I wish y'all the best of luck. Michelle's presence is already deeply missed. It's awful knowing that we'll never get to hear from her again.
