Nice Article from Haaretz on Motya in Sicily

Post by Minimalist »

I hope everyone can read it.

I have a free subscription to Haaretz for just such occasions. They do this kind of thing quite often.

Monumental Structure in Sicily Isn’t a Phoenician Harbor – It’s a Huge Sacred Pool of Baal

The kothon of Motya in southern Sicily had first been assumed to be an artificial harbor. It wasn’t, archaeologist Lorenzo Nigro of Sapienza proves
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Fortunately, Haaretz wasn't the only publication that covered the discovery. I read a fairly extensive article on it. That was some pretty interesting reading.
