Homo naledi had fire [!]

Post by circumspice »

This shouldn't be surprising considering the relatively 'young' dates for H naledi... A YT vlogger that I follow states that Lee Berger tweeted on Twitter that the use of fire wasn't even close to the latest surprising revelations about H naledi. There are supposed to be three other new developments that are more... controversial or whatever... (?) The vlogger went on to list his wish list... DNA... tools... more remains... a newly discovered entrance, etc.

However, Dr. Berger is being coy...

The link below is not the associated Twitter posts. I don't have Twitter because I don't see much use in that particular app.

The link below is Dr. Berger's announcement pertaining to the discovery of traces of fire use deep within the Dinaledi/Rising Star cave system. There are also videos of the inside of the cave & still photos of the associated hearths, some of which contain burned animal bones.

So, without further ado:

There is always the chance - actually the great likelihood - that human evolution was not linear. Some scattered groups may have made advances far earlier than others but then died out for one reason or another.

We will never unravel this entire mystery.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Welp... Prof Berger made his big announcement yesterday & it was surprising, as expected. What he announced, about Homo naledi:

1. Fire (that was the teaser from 6 months ago)
2. Deliberate burial vs body disposal (hole dug, dead person planted in hole, hole refilled)
3. Ritual treatment of the dead body (possibly bound tightly in fetal position)
4. Grave goods... a tool-like stone was found "in the hand" of a juvenile individual
5. Art/Symbolism, found etched/scratched on walls near some of the burials

If you're interested, go to a YouTube channel called History with Kayleigh. She does an hour-long interview with Prof. Berger. He shows videos & slides. He's dropped the coy act & spoke openly at length about each of the discoveries.

Holy heck, the African exposure is really a wild ride. Someone should compile all the discoveries in one dossier for posterity.... Er prosperity as the case may be!

Homo naledi may have lit fires in underground caves at least 236,000 years ago. Remnants of small fireplaces found in South African cave system.
