It's a book. That's why it says on the back page "ISBN ...." and two sets of numbers.marduk wrote:how did you manage to wade through all 53 pages of The Language of Pictland without realising that its not a book but actually a paper based on one of her lectures

And she finished by saying "This, however, should be considered utterly unremarkable (and as I have stressed is not at all the same thing as the survival of a non-Indo-European speech-community)" page 37.Marduk wrote:she actually says herself at the end that "she does not rule out the possibility of a pre celtic substratum influence on pictish"
You mean where it says: "This language shift, however, occurred long before the earliest extant evidence and does not in any way imply the survival into the historic period of distinct non-Indo-European languages anywhere in the British Isles. The Picts have languished in the non-Indo-European ghetto long enough, it is high time they were acknowledged as being as fully Celtic as their Irish and British neighbours, and studied accordingly".Marduk wrote:that means that the picts were around before the celts arrived on the scene don't you think otherwise how could there be a pre celtic anything ?
or didn't you read the penultimate page ofon page 37her book
And nowhere did I say she was a linguist and not a historian.Marduk wrote:and if as you claim that you know of her work you might have realised that shes a historian and not a linguist as she actually states herself on the last line
A strange comment from someone who said earlier-Marduk wrote: you pooh pooh references that you haven't read and clearly respond with others that you haven't read without knowing that they refute what you are claiming
And anyway, you haven't actually posted any evidence yet!Marduk wrote:I didn't bother to look at your websites I just assumed that you didn't have a clue what you were talking about...
Marduk wrote:you answer posts with personal insults and attacks
What-like this one?
Marduk wrote:(what happen ex boyfriend garnd wizard dump you or something)
If that's your idea of sensible, I don't have much to worry about. Why don't you just answer the question you were asked; do you have evidence for the ridiculous statements about the Picts you made a few pages ago, or don't you. It's a simple enough question-just answer yes or no.Marduk wrote:so if its possible for you to actually post something not nonsensical this time and politely i will respond in kind
if not as they say in Sumer

Ask him what Hancock thinks of the Picts, RK.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.
