Look carefully at some of these photos for 'ripple marks' and see how they spread from one bit to another -- in other words, in those cases we are looking at breaks in the rocks.

Doug

I would rather say to look the layers. The first one and second one below are not the same kind of stone.

I still don't know what you're reffering, but I had enough of this spitting. No Bosnian is spitting on Canada, or any other country, nor any of us commenting your affairs. I've haven't seen so much viciousness in my life, as on this thread, which should be scientific thread. So let's make something very clear: WE in Bosnia don't need neither your help, nor your opinion, so keep your nose out of Bosnia. And that's friendly advice.
thought you were serb? i understand why you might want to be bosnian.
I am what I am, Bosnian Serb, and I'm proud of it. Your stupid question just tells me how educated you are. If you had finish at least secondary school, you should know that Serbs live in Bosnia since first mentioning of Bosnia in hystorical resources, and that they are Bosnians (always have been, and always will be), same as different nations in Switzerland are Swiss. From which pit you just got into this thread?

Bosnia vs Iraq

Post by FreeThinker »

More than once now the archaeological damage due to the Iraq war has been brought up in this thread. That is a debate for another thread as it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Bosnian "pyramids".

Indeed, there has been great damage done to Iraq's archaeological heritage from the ongoing conflict there. This has been a tremendous loss not only for Iraq but for the rest of the world too. Archaeologists the world over have protested loudly, but their protests have fallen on the deaf ears of the combatants and, sadly, the archaeological destruction (and many other types of destruction for that matter) continues. It is all terribly sad, heartbreaking really. Humanity at its worst.

That said, it has nothing to do with the Bosnian "pyramids". The damage being done to the legitimate archaeological sites in Bosnia by Osmanagic's crew should be denounced every bit as strongly as the damage done to Iraqi archaeological sites by the ongoing Iraq war. Destruction of archaeological sites is destruction of archaeological sites, and I condemn it wherever it is occuring.

I am not opposed to digging Visoko hill, but it should be dug according to well established and accepted archaeological methods. This is not occuring. This has clearly been illustrated by the many pictures of the "digs" in progress we have seen posted here. I was particularly disgusted to see the careless way the remains of a neolithic (possibly) burial was treated. Looters show as little concern for human remains.

Osmanagic is a hack and the digs he is leading are damaging legitimate archaeological sites. And all to prove his looney Atlantian theories. How is this archaeology?

Finnaly someone with honest heart. Yes, it is loss for whole world. And yet, you're the first one here (I presume you are scientist) to say that openly. And I hope you have signed some letter against that crime against of the world's heritage there.

But constantly spitting, or trying to stop the excavations will bring you again to the "deaf ears". Bosnia already has many friends in Europe that officially support the excavations, and you won't achive nothing if continue to act as a ultimate judge in whole affair. I'm not reffering to you now personally, but to whole crew that went on crusade against Osmanagich and excavations. That clearly won't happenned.

Thank you Zagor. I can't believe what kind of people are participating on this scientific site. We might disagree in some scientific things, and open conversation is benefit for all, but no, some came here just to spit on other people. I came here to say my opinion, (wright or wrong) and to learn something, thinking that experienced archeologists will give theirs.

possibly. but if you think its permissible that these people do this than maybe you should stay away from the computer when they're putting down new carpets.

I know it is permissable. It is legal. It is they're country.

The license to excavate has been issued. When you can show that artifacts have been lost or destroyed, then let us know. Get off of the hysterical bandwagon that has surrounded this thing.

Now if you just want to make fun of Os' theories, I'll laugh with you.

What a pity the behaviour of you and your supporters in this thread loudly trumpet exactly how far "civilisation" in Bosnia has plummeted since the glory days then, eh?!

You have to know something in order to forget it. A pity no-one will ever accuse you of the same.

Can you accept that Osmanagich claimed in an interview last December -before any excavations started- that this was definitely a pyramid? If that doesn't sound suspicious, I don't know what does. Expecially since people are now claiming they can't find anything yet, the excavations have just started!
