So unlike the the Bow Head, Humpback, and Right whale, the Sperm whale does not rise to the surface as it decomposes, so a sunken Sperm whale is a lost whale then, would that be why the whalers fill them with gas then?

If you read back a bit Min, to before Marduk started getting rude, you'll find I pointed that out and explained that whaling from open boats was done with a lance to puncture the lungs and heart. The use of the trident is as old as civilization. There are murals, tiles, and paintings in Egypt, Sumeria, and Minoa, etc. that demonstrate it's use.

It is used with a net. The net has sink rocks attached to it. Net the fish and gig it. Simple. Sometimes those net stones are mistaken for ornaments.
