Bob, I envy your being out in AZ.
I visited your neighboring state of NM a few years ago and
fell in love with it. My visit was short and confined to the Santa Fe area, and I would love to go back next time I have time/money. I visited Bandelier
and two other abandoned dwellings/ pueblos. And the museums in Santa Fe.
I was really stunned, walking over those mounds of millions of pottery shards, and being able to climb down into kivas...and seeing the mudbricks made of dirt containing shards as well.
Maybe this is old hat to you, but I still get excited thinking about it.
My friend Jake (John) Barrow works for the NPS there. He isn't an archeologist, but works in historic preservation. He and his colleagues
have developed techniques for injecting or coating fragile surfaces with
resins...to protect petroglyphs, and preserve walls of old Spanish missions.

Much natural splendor out here.

I spent my whole life in New York before retiring out here. In fact, I was just back in NY freezing my butt off last week.

A friend went to Albuquerque and pronounced it one of the most beautiful places he had ever seen. I'll have to get there...it's a one-day drive.

Albuquerque indeed is a lot better than Phoenix, Scotsdale, Mesa.
But then, what isn't?

I guess that rules out a "self-inflicted wound."

Does it?
Stranger wounds have been "self-inflicted".
But indeed, the odds are against it.

BOb's remark about a self-inflicted wound was a joke, Rokcet.

Imagine shooting yourself in the rear end with an atl -atl!

You would have to attach the dart to a boomerang!

Either that or throw the thing and then run to get in front of it!

Clovis Holocaust...

seems related to the "kennebic" man too. He seems to be Ainu, not Native American. And, there was a site found in Chili that was pre-clovis. And like Ainu culture, on the coast. The Ainu were peaceful fishermen, not hunters, which is why there's only 100 left in Japan.

I've read as well that all Native Americans descend from just seven Y chromosome lines that seem to originate in Mongolia. But- there are scores of mtDNA lines. The obvious reason would be that the Mongol line in America did what they did in Asia, and killed all the males they could, and stole all the women, only better at it in America.

This is entirely in keeping with the behavior seen in alpha males of other primates. Why would the hominids be any different??
