Re: Roman DNA
You really need to work on your internet search skills, spice.
I have already provided you with a link to the look inside
of that current $125 book from that Oxford fellow.
Here is the way I currently parse it out.
The Venturiones (most likely from Ventus, wind)
are the first of the Baltic sea raiders,
in association with the Di/Calydones,
most likely the two "Caledonian" nations,
the Cruit around Glasgow and the Vododin around Edinburgh.
Roman ship construction techniques and sail technologies
were most likely first adapted around the Baltic trading ports,
most likely the ports for Baltic amber and garnet.
Despite the fact that those ports themselves are most likely
now underwater due to the rising seal levels,
we may expect the remains of early wine amphora to be found in their hinterlands
as indicators of their locations.
Locate those ports,
and you will have an ethnicity for the Venturiones,
their tribe,
and you can proceed with your text and archeological analysis from that point.

Re: Roman DNA
EP... You never did explain the reason that you hijacked this thread, changing the subject from the OP regarding Roman DNA to the subject of possible impacts, volcanoes & saints' lives. Every time you are asked a specific question you either gloss over the subject or you try to distract the person who asked the questions. I don't give a happy rat's ass about saints' lives, $125 books on saints' lives, imaginary impacts, volcano eruption dust loading or any of the other bullshit you've blathered about in this thread. Why do you feel the need to hijack EVERY thread in this board & try to turn the attention to your crackpot theories? You are killing this board, slowly but surely. There's no way to tell you politely that you need to back off & shut the fuck up. So I'll say it plainly: Back off & shut the fuck up. This is not your board. It is not all about YOU. You have no right to derail every single thread & try to steer the subject to 'you' & your crackpot theories. Just shut up. You've made your case repeatedly. You're beating a dead & rotting horse. Stop.

You do not read any of the laguages or understand the archaeology so what you say is of little consequence. I can tell you though that Venturiones does not come from "Wind" for obvious reasons. What a thicko.
Is it possible that the Sioux people derive their name from being discoverd by a woman in the dim distant past called Sue? Was it a reference to their love for" Suing" others? Hmmm needs investigation!!!!! We already know the Apache groups get their name from a form of aggressive dancing once popular in French nightclubs and imported to the Ameicas by Jesuit missionaries. It all fits!!!!!!!

Really. So the fact they had been trading by seas for a couple of hundred years before they got to the Baltic would not have had an effect?
Obviously you do not even know where Rome is fool. It faces the Mediterranean.
Locate those ports,
and you will have an ethnicity for the Venturiones,
their tribe,
and you can proceed with your text and archeological analysis from that point.
And by ports what do we mean? Huge roll-off roll-on centres? The main trading centres are already known
You are brain dead mate . Get an education (that must be possible evenin Ohio) and learn to read books. And do not try to take part in discussions where you do not know anything.
It's trime for you to be rested for a while and the board get back to archaeology.

You do not know what you are talking about. All you do is make yourself look stupid. No one reads or cares about your litterate ramblings.I went through most of the materials simon goes on and on about many years and a stroke ago
while examining the "Gnostic aspects" of the "Pelagian" Christians.
My essay on the records of the Bazas impact
was originally circulated via the Cambridge Conference to impact specialists,
and has since been reposted multiple times elsewhere.
You do not even read Latin.
I think you lost a lot more than that. And I have relatives who have had strokes (one fatally) and generally they do not behave like morons.I lost my French in my stroke,
otherwise I would have translated that essay into French,
it may have had an effect on ESA budgets,
and it most likely will sometime in the immediate future.
The Life of Columba whichy yu cannot read and is ireelevant to the aculturalisation issue.I graciously pointed simon to the Life of Columba,

If you want to discuss the sub Roman period in Western Europe,
it helps if you know your facts, and not just part of them, but as many of them as possible.

simon, other centers of brain function besides those for motor control and intellectual function
are usually effected by strokes.
While there is a stigma which some ignorant morons promote in seeing a specialist in those areas,
That is not the course I choose - I do seek out the experts, and I have no shame in admitting it.
As a matter of fact, psychological and psychiatric counciling should be emphasized in every stroke case.

simon, I am not the person who thinks that the Cruit were an imaginary people.
I am not the person who is unable to track the tribes of Britain
through the Roman period and afterward.
While there are not that many pig farms in Ohio,
I have no problem dealing with farmers.
as I respect them for producing the food we all eat.
Also, they often have artifacts
which they have collected from their fields.
simon, it simply was not all Romans and Anglo Saxons.
The answers to the questions you are so interested in
are not in the materials you have been working through again and again and again.
But then no one can tell you anything,

As for myself,
I still have no idea about the location(s) of Baltic garnet deposits
which you claimed existed.

Like most DNA based research it starts by promising much but ending up with very little.
The Belgae conenction is interesting. It being pointed out that Frisian is one of the closest languages to English. If the Belgae in South England spoke frisian (coming from the area) then early English may have been in existence before the Anglo Saxons - so the problem of what happened to the Brittonic language doesn't in a sense arise - large numbers of Southern British didn't speak it.
EP... Once again I'll ask you... Why did you hijack this thread? See the original post (OP) above... Nothing, absolutely NOTHING that you've spewed in this thread has any correlation to the OP. Nothing. Note that there are no references to impact events. Note that there are no references to volcanic dust loading. Note that there are no references to saints' lives. Note that there are no references to Scotland or the northern region of the British isles.
Your illogical 'contribution' to the original post effectively derailed the whole thread since the remainder of the thread is filled with your random non sequiturs.
When I repeatedly ask you why you are routinely hijacking threads on this board you do nothing but obfuscate & try to misdirect attention away from your boorish behavior. You even have the gall to characterize yourself as 'gracious'.
You need to back off & shut the fuck up EP. Seriously.

well, spice - when I first began here the idea of comet impacts which led to the demise of the mammoth was viewed by many as absurd.
We're now down to the smaller impacts,
including one that appears to have affected sub-roman Britain,
by affecting one of its trade routes to Rome.
Right now several people view that idea as absurd,
and are quite vocal about it.
I myself am waiting for site data and geological analysis.
I wish I knew how to hire a server and get this bbs software installed on it
(as cheaply as possible)
I feel that i can handle it now.
This e-paper is the bee's knees.
Given your interest in Christianity consider this:
The best analogy for impact studies
is the development of studies of evolution,
as surely no omniscient, omnipotent, beneficial Deity would simply allow his best creations,
and his worshippers, people, to be blown off the face of the Earth by asteroid and comet impacts,
would He?
But then the data is what it is.

and it tuns out that all of the big dogs in the UK are working on those materials,
including the one you yourself pointed me to. (Mr. Dark, for one example.)
In other words, trying to establish the tribal history of the Cruit,
which in my view is the key to the events in sub-Roman Britain.
Your views cut no ice because you have no learning to reinforce them. Why humiliate yourself in this way? Think of your family I urge you.
There are no Columba materials. Columba's life is irelevant to this debate. There is no evidence he visited any Angl Saxon kingdom or people. You are an anglo saxon not because of St Columba. One way of avoiding evidence is simply to refuse to look at it.
The problem that you have, simon, is that all of those experts you cite
are looking at the Columba materials.
As far as dick size goes, simon,
you are not my type - you are the wrong gender.
Sorry you speak the language, live by the laws etc etc mon pauvre. Can you still drive? What langauge is your driving licence in? And Canada was part of the British Empire. So you contradict yourself.Mais non. Ils sont mots combatant en Quebec,
un de pais de mes ancesteurs.
I do not pretend anything.
The hidden family secret for nearly 200 years has been our native ancestry.
I regularly meet with other distant native american descendents,
where I eat buffalo burgers,
and they are quite good.
This is ceasing to be funny - shooting fish in a barrell
No there are no races. I am sorry to say men with those views of racial purity were dealt with in a Nuremburg Gymnasium by a US army Sargent and some rope. Some managed to scream before he pulled the lever. But then I suppose that there is no aboriginal blood in your family tree,
is there, simon?
Pure Anglo-Saxon, eh?
We are talking culture here, different thing.
We are all mongrels old son sorry to tell you. You possibly have some black and native American ancestors, if that does not shock you too much.
The recent studies in the US population seem to indicate that far more of the supposed pure white population contain DNA from other groups than was once suspected.
No surprise to those of us who followed the fall of the RSA. The sight of Eugene Terreblanche's face when he was informed that he (a white supremacist) had almost certainly black ancestry was one of the most hilarious images of the decade.
I think your stroke is interfering with your comprehension. Try reading what I have said and try again. As I say you are not doing yourself any good with this sort of ranting. geological specimens" in the mail. what does this mean in the context? Are you having trouble with the Post? Maybe posting things to the "Cruit" confuses them? Along with your letters to the Wizard of Oz.Okay.
There are certain techniques which you use
when studying the hoards found in warriors graves from any culture.
You've violated about every one of those "rules".
The only problem I have in this area
is getting some "geological specimens" in the mail.
If you have skills, which culture do you study, apply your skills to examining?
For what purpose?
I am sure you have. Just as you get phone calls from President Trump and the Pope on a regular basis. It is possible that I could strike a deal with the author.
It has happened before.
Well you do mention it in every post, presumably as an excuse. I am more concerned frankly about your family. They have to live with the debris after you pass on.Thanks ever so much for your concern about my health and happiness.
This is slightly incoherent and worrying, especially when connected to the sudden, disconnected, comments about the postal services - are you on medication? Pigs in Scotland? Here's a tip:
the farmers in Scotland do not raise pigs,
they raise sheep.
Thus you won't lack for sex if you ever make it into the field there
to do real archaeology.
Shakespeare had a saying "[the lady] doth protest too much" did he not? Your sensitivity here clearly implies that other people have raised these issues with you. You admit as much when you say you are used to these sort of comments. Take some time to consider what is being said. Consider the effect such a reputation for being a crank can have on one's nearest and dearest. That person who you have constructed bears no factual resemblance to me.
None; zip; zero, nada.
Of course you do and it is a lovely idea if it gives you comfort. No one would condemn you - but it is not relevant to any one else certainly o one with an interest in the area.I know that the idea that Bazas was flattened by an impact airburst is outrageous.
But the fact of the real existence of the Cruit people?
[My only regret is that I can not be more brutal with you,
but will have to settle with providing you with an opportunity
to manufacture enough rope to hang yourself.
I hope you succeed in doing that soon,
as it will benefit mankind.
Yes yes you have your hopes. Will you not consider a course in basic latin? Here is a University that provides courses:

Remember your time may be short, use it wisely. If my releative could use his last hours to try and complete his studies, you can also do so.
It is the trying that matters - it is an effective way to overcome fear.
