Recall that archaeology has never found anything called a "Seal of Solomon."

Here's my concern...IF he did find some hard proof of Pre columbus activity by Europeans or others, won't THE CLUB try hard to keep it from seeing the light of day or some other nefarious things? He's trying to do the right thing here and I respect that, he could loot the site and no one would ever know. The only way they can safely enter the site is on public land, the part on private land is the seal, and it is not safe to move that without endangering what is beneath.
Clubs, I would recommend that your friend proceed into the cave with the assistance of an archaeologist who isn't afraid to report whatever he/she finds. Downplay the pre-Columbian aspect and just document the site properly as a possible pirate or colonial stash. People can look at the documentation and make up their own minds. Seal of Solomon? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. If it is a pre-Columbian, European something or other just collect everything in the proper manner and some items (like the skull's teeth) could be genetically analysed to support that case.

Any serious, young archaeologist will help out for some money and a six-pack of beer. If your friend doesn't have the money, raise some in a joint venture arrangement with investors. I've seen serious money thown away on less interesting projects.

Then again, my 13-year old daughter just told me I should coax you into telling me where it is to get there first and get all the money! (I think she's after more clothes) :D

Well, yeah. Good point. The "city" of Jerusalem seems to have been a little one-horse town at the time.

'Buried treasure' in the Caribbean or eastern seaboard of NA is much more likely to be salvaged materials from a Spanish ship that was damaged in a storm and hidden to be collected later.
The Spaniards did lose a lot of vessels but usually attempted salvage when they could.
Pirates normally spent what they took. Wine, women, and song!

POOF

From what I am seeing it is most likely a pirate hoard but why it is marked with those particular symbols and why the heck it is topped with this "seal" thing is beyond even my imagination. The "seal" is a HUGE put together thing with a massive central stone surrounded by triangular shapped stones to form this shape the giant center stone evidently covers an entrance to the cave.

humm jewish pirates? lol i dunno.

From what I am seeing it is a shipwreck of some sort that survivors buried in fine fashion.....but why? And why the heck the symbols..the feminine devine??? Were there any chick pirates? lol

Your description is confusing. OT1H you describe the seal as 'put together', which I construe as consisting of different, separately quarried parts of stone, assembled into the whole thing in some way. OTOH you describe it has been 'carved', which can be interpreted as if it is a single piece of rock.

Which is it please?

PS what happened to Charlie H.??
Long story short: I used an avatar that was unacceptable to Charlie. He then pulled all his posts and pictures. We all miss him.

You can find him and his hand-axes at at least one 'sister' board that I know of.

The good news is he hasn't told anyone where it is... The only folks who know are close friends in the cave dive team. I only know general area and would never be able to find it
Clubs, too much speculation ... just recommend to your friend that onlookers be told he is digging a well to test for offshore spring water (or some such lame excuse). Mention that the archaeologist is needed since arrowheads were found in the area and it's a requirement of the state ... then complain about the needless expense. That is believable.

Tell the archaeologist that the site is less than 100 years old and that there is a desire to document anything valuable as it is recovered. The skull could be a problem since it could make the site a potential murder scene (hopefully it's Nicolo Zeno?). In other words, baffle 'em with bullshit.

On a separate matter, R/S was encouraged to remove the avatar of his girlfriend and replace it with a self-portrait. :D

No way!
If I'd done that Bush would've invaded me to destroy a WMD!

So I posted a snap of Daddy!

But you gotta admit Sheila is a lot prettier.
And better built.

HI,

I'm sorry my description was garbled.

The giant "seal" is comprised of quarried fashioned stones set together to form the "seal" with the huge center stone apparently covering the entrance which is on TOP of the site. Investigation of this has made him believe that moving the center stone would cause things to collapse inward on top of the things that were hidden inside. He found another entrance to the site which is how they introduced the unerwater camera, through a fissure in the rocks which would be ground level and through which water escapes. They are searching for a way to divert the water which was purposely directed into this portion of the cave.

The carved symbols for the feminine devine are found in the surrounding area along with many other symbols that are certainly known pirate symbols. Those carvings were also covered with vegetation.

I am sorry about Charlie. I will miss his posts. I try never to be offended by someone else's point of view, like assholes, we all have them! :D

I recieved some new photos..and sadly have been asked to keep these confidential. I have worked a few of them over in my photoshop and all I can say is as soon as I post this I will be researching cannons, iron corrosion in fresh water..brass, corrosion in general and cannon types...we learn something new every day and today, THIS seems like a good thing to learn. :D

Cogs..there won't be any onlookers, I do know that the site is not acessible by vehicle and takes a vigourous hike. From what I can tell, the source of the water IS a spring though :D

HUmm I was thinking it was more likely the actual grave of John Gunn :D

I am sorry, I did it thinking anyone who was a member here had already read the thread (it did show a lot of views)I got to thinking I'd said too much..not for the usual readers here, but for whomever is tracking my friend and his exploits could maybe google something and find it. I am sorry I did not mean to leave anyone out just being google safe.
