Here's the report.

http://www.newamericancentury.org/Rebui ... fenses.pdf

The line cited above appears on page 72 but there is no in-depth discussion and there is no footnote suggesting who may have contributed to it. Nor is there a bibliography. There is a list of "contributors" which includes their titles but I don't see anything in there which could suggest that any bio-weapons expert was included.

One suspects this is simply more mindless rambling from the far right which thinks every problem should be solved by dropping bombs on it.

Oops! I just realized that I addressed my earlier comment to Min but it was kbs who said he'd like to know who funded Lewis' research.

Anyway, Min, from your comment about the mindless rambling of the far right, it looks like you're not familiar with the PNAC, its members, their roles in the Bush administration, the goal of a worldwide "Pax Americana," the commitment to pre-emptive wars to maintain American global power, and belief that the US should and could conduct multiple theaters of war simultaneously with a minimum of manpower (relying on advanced technology weapons). It's all there in the report. I think the names of PNAC members and signatories to its principles used to be included either in the report itself or on the PNAC website. I had a printout of it once, and read the WHOLE damned thing back when it became public knowledge, about 6 years ago.

Wish they could be written off as just mindless far righters, but the PNAC was calling the shots in the Bush administration for nearly the full 8 years.
I was mistaken when I said, based on an old source, that Cheney was one of its co-founders. But he was a member and signatory to its stated principles.

This link gives some background. Go to Section 3 - Persons Associated with the PNAC - and read on down to the ones in Bush's administration. You'll recognize some well-known names - Rumsfeld, Cheney, Libby. PNAC principles were behind the policies and actions that they implemented under Bush.

The formal group appears to be defunct now, but I doubt very much that that they've changed their views or commitment to power on their own terms. I'd expect that such dedicated purposefulness would lay low when necessary and regroup when possible.

Oh, quite the opposite, JW.

Doesn't mean their ramblings aren't mindless.

Just means that they elected the perfect pair of ass clowns to listen to them.

I have a really close friend in South Carolina and, having spent most of the summer chiding her for the antics of her governor, when this Wilson nut popped up I couldn't resist sending her an email which said "Bad summer for SC republicans, huh? What is it with these guys?"

Her answer: "They can't stand being obscure"

Oh, dear. I do get tired of saying, "Oops."

Shouldn't have made the assumption.

However, I don't see them as mindless, and that's what troubles me.

Agree that it was a mindless agenda. But it was set by individuals and groups that know what appeals to rank and file followers and how to arouse them with fear, misleading information, and outrage that hints at violence.
