New Publication: Minoan Peak Sanctuaries

The Old World is a reference to those parts of Earth known to Europeans before the voyages of Christopher Columbus; it includes Europe, Asia and Africa.

E. P.

I finally found an uncommitted moment. I was wondering if you could take a photo of the survey map you mention and post it here so we all can give it a look. It surely must be in the public domain. During my research on "The Minoan Web of Mirrors & Scripts" I acquired a good deal of knowledge on the optical surveying techniques of the late 19th century. Also, have you been able to gain access to Google Earth yet so you can thoroughly examine the geographical features I've described.

It is hard to say how ancient the use of light for long distance communication was.

Hi E. P.

I haven't seen it but the show is probably just more Atlantis hype for ratings. If there was any real archaeological evidence we would have heard about it by now.

Interesting about the torches being seen from those distances. I wonder how far a large fire could be seen on a clear night?
