In your country RS their have recently been a number of arrests on terror charges, this would seem to suggest that a lack of CCTV cameras does not equate to you are not being watched.
The STASI managed without them!

12, to be exact. Ex-pat Somalis.
All realeased inside 48 hours because there turned out to be nothing untoward. At all!
They had been ratted on by another ex-pat Somali out of spite. He had a beef with them.
But your media didn't report that release, did they?
An excellent example of sensationalist bullshit reporting.

Like I told Min the other day: the days of snitching and false accusations are upon us. WE (including the UK and US) are now the 'new' USSR/DDR/PRC/DPRK. McCarthyism rides again!

The Stasi had millions of mobile 'CCTV cameras': citizens.

In the west we are being conditioned – through sensationalist bullshit journalism like the above – to turn into millions of snitches too. And the authorities/administration facilitate and exploit that:
One Tip Enough To Put Name On Terrorist Watch List

As a result of the US Government's complete failure to investigate credible warnings about 'Underwear Bomber' Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab from none other than Abdulmutallab's father, senior American counterterrorism officials say they have altered their criteria so that a single-source tip can lead to a name being placed on the watch list. Civil liberties groups warn that it is now even more likely that individuals who pose no threat will be swept up in America's security apparatus, leading to potential violations of their privacy and making it difficult for them to travel. 'They are secret lists with no way for people to petition to get off or even to know if they're on,' said Chris Calabrese, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union.

So the probable reason for our CCTV cameras is down to the fact that the English culture abhors snitches.

Who are you trying to fool? 5 Million CCTV cams are 5 million robot snitches. Slaves. You English love snitches!

Robots are not human. Blair tried to introduce rules to turn us all into spies, he gave it up.

Ooooh, I see!
So it's OK if it's inhuman, is it...?

Huh?

Have you forgotten to take the little yellow pill again?

Snitching CCTV cams are an extension of snitching human operators.

Finally you've got it! Only there's no need to go overboard. So keep your shirt on. A roll-back to pre-Dubya levels and MOs will do. For starters.

Viva anarchy! Leave the crims with all the weapons, all the latest electronic trickery, abandon ATM security systems, identity cards etc.
Peace and love!

Roy.
