But as regards surg boards I make no comment 'cos I don't know a damned thing about them. I get sea sick looking into my beer!

I don't know about ancient surf boards, B, but I don't see why someone couldn't lay on a floating log and paddle with his hands. As far as I am concerned that would be a water ""craft."
