As I recall, Lord Elgin sold them to the Crown and the Crown sold them to the British Museum but I don't see the Greeks offering to buy them back....plus interest!
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

About the Lanapes "owning" Manhattan....The story I heard was that they were just visiting the island. It was traditionally the territory of another tribe...

As far as the Elgins go, I agree they were acquired legally, and that probably would not have survived, or at least not as well, in Greece.

If England wanted to give them back, I could see the justicie in that, but Greece has no real legal right to demand it
