He is an ego driven jerk
Get over it,
He is also the only guy found so far that can organize the whole scene.
I am not a fan and am not saying someone else could not do better.
But they haven’t surfaced.

he Inventory Stele indicates that the GP already existed during Khufu's reign and he merely built some subsidiary structures and fixed the sphinx. Since this is at odds with the story that Egyptology wants told, they have called the Inventory Stele a forgery
How convenient. Same type of argument in North American archaeology ... if it looks like a human made artifact, but it's over 15,000 years old, it's a geofact! My bitch with Zahi, other than his annoying ego, is that:
(a) He all too often promulgates the typical Egyptologist status quo without thinking for himself.
(b) He rejects the use of DNA analysis as unimportant in determining the makeup of Egyptian, including royal, family lines.
(c) He keeps wearing that damn Indy Jones hat.
Zahi does (b) above since, once again, it doesn't fit his preconceived paradigm.

I don't disagree with that characterization, kb. But, as you say, no one else has emerged to do the job.
Cogs, you don't ask the questions when you really do not want to know the answer. They have concocted what is nearly a religion around the story of dynastic egypt and it is heresy to question it.

Yes, I am apparently guilty of heresy (again) since there really isn't much to convince me that Khufu (i.e. Cheops) built the Great Pyramid. The lack of hieroglyphics on the monolith indicate to me that it was built in pre-dynastic times. What for and by whom I wouldn't know.

Heresy is fun.

Pyramids are not monoliths.
monolith
noun
1. a large single upright block of stone, especially one shaped into or serving as a pillar or monument.
*a very large and characterless building:
the 72-story monolith overlooking the waterfront
*a large block of concrete sunk in water, e.g., in the building of a dock.
Just sayin'

The way things are going in Egypt it seems that the last thing they are going to have to worry about is tourism for a very long time. Kind of makes the Germans look very smart for not "returning" the Bust of Nefertiti to them.
