Halley's Comet --> Famine

The Old World is a reference to those parts of Earth known to Europeans before the voyages of Christopher Columbus; it includes Europe, Asia and Africa.

I might be missing something but even in your chart it looks like the values are higher in 2013 than they were in 1979. 34 years, geologically, is not even a tick of the clock.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Just to add a little reality to the Artic Ice noise.
These are U S Navy archive photos taken at the North Pole.

Update :
The Aurora Australis has abandoned its first attempt to cut through the ice surrounding the stranded Akademik Shokalskiy in Antarctica after moving just two nautical miles.

About 6am, the Aurora's captain, Murray Doyle, began to manoeuvre the icebreaker through thick wedges of consolidated sea ice.

But by 9am [midday Sydney time], the master made the call to turn the ship around and move back into open water.

“The ice became too thick for us to penetrate. Some of the floes are up to two metres of ice with a metre of snow on top and very compact. There was just nowhere for us to go."

You know, it would be nice if all of you learned the anthroplogical effects of climate cycles BEFORE you
started to discucss CO2 induced warming.

In any case, we have at hand two impact assisted global climate collapses which when they re-ocur will kill billions of people,
but rather than look at them you'd prefer to vent on global warming.

As that is not my field, count me out. I gathered what data I could from the archaeology of the Americas, and have no more to add,
other than that all of you need to learn much more about solar variability and its mechanisms.

It's just too much fun, E.P.

Really. Here's Chris Tuney, "Professor of Climate Change at the University of New South Wales" leading an expedition to document the dire effects of Global Warming, with a contingent of reporters from the mass-market media to photograph the glaciers calving & that sort of scenic stuff that can be spun into alarmist support for the "carbon tax" scam.

Hopelessly trapped in ice they weren't supposed to encounter. Not even icebreakers can reach them.

Looks like they're going to rescue them by helicopter --

At the risk of annoying those who find my ranting about Belief being a parallel mental state that can override plain evidence, common sense & even personal experience --

Here's your Poster Child Example of it :
Chris Turney, a professor of climate change at Australia’s University of New South Wales, said it was “silly” to suggest he and 73 others aboard the MV Akademic Shokalskiy were trapped in ice they’d sought to prove had melted. He remained adamant that sea ice is melting, even as the boat remained trapped in frozen seas.

I would appreciate it If all of you would read this before arguing about CO2 effects:

HI uniface -

The scientists working on this do it without Laura's help.

She strike me as someone trying to use fears to build a cult.
