The news about Neandertal right now is so exciting that it almost calls for a kegger party. I've been a Neandertal promoter for too many years to count, so I can say without any illusions that:

THE EMPIRE WILL STRIKE BACK

It's just the way things are. many thanks to Trinkaus, et al, they need to hang in there. Orthodoxy is not about to roll over and play dead.

But in the meantime, we can toast our favorite caveman (which actually he wasn't, he usually made caves his cemetary)

Primarily, thanks to Trinkaus, Templeton and Wolpoff for hanging in there. Trinkaus is obstinate about his findings and isn't about to roll over. Also, he expresses his thanks for the thoughts on this forum. 8)

Hey Cogs, have you communicated with him? Your statement seems to suggest that.

Yes ... he's out to prove something, but the final answer will come after the completion of the Neanderthal Genome Project.

I can only hope that Svante Paabo does a decent enough job that the results don't fall into peer review hell.

I really like Hawks. He's a bit of a heretic and can really brighten ones' day.

Did I mention I can trace my family roots back to a locale near the Neander Valley?

What do you think?
'Cuda, is that you on that insurance commercial?
