Upheavals in the Third Millenium BCE

Yeah, but we are not talking water. We are talking muck. The kind that pulls your boots off. It creates a suction that you would not believe.
I believe the examination of the Kenosha site is ongoing. I do not know if there were multiple kills or butchering.
But, if memory serves, there was clear evidence that they left meat behind.
Since the exhibit showed one, I assumed it was a single kill. I will have go visit and find out if there is anything new. It is about a 40 mile drive.

Speaking of the flood. There is a certain scientist, in the ultimate manifestation of anti-club behaviour, who has taken on scientific orthodoxy with a theory with attempts to describe how a global flood, ie. "the flood of Genesis" could have happened through a process known as runaway subduction. He is a "young earth creationist" who works for the Los Alamos Labs and he and a colleage has developed a three-dimensional model which runs on a super-computer to support his hypothesis. The scientist, Dr. John Baumgardner has taken his share of criticism and rebuttals as well as would be expected by someone who opposes orthodoxy. Still, his approach is generating some buzz in certain, "creationist" circles. Check it out if you're interested at:

I probably would not have paid any attention to him except for the fact that certain people have tried to stop his research, by appealing to Los Alamos to cut off his access to facilities. This piqued my interest that perhaps some feel his ideas have merit, so therefore take away his tools. It the ultimate club strategy at work.

The "Flood of Genesis" is probably nothing more than a mistranslation of the Hebrew word "eretz" as "world" instead of "land." Eretz Israel means the state of Israel...not the world of Israel.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

That interpretation is due to the environment they were found in. Plus... HSS wasn't around.Minimalist wrote:There are dinosaur graveyards with thousands of bodies piled up, too. The interpretation is flood debris.
Imo it takes only 10, 20, or 30 men, max., with a plan (HSS had brains, cooperation and experience!), using fire and noise, to stampede a mammoth herd in the direction of a cliff. It's hard to imagine enough of a human presence in Siberia to account for such vast pile-ups.
And – like Digit indicated – you don't want to be in the path of those 5/6 ton animals (let's not exaggerate): once they get going, they don't stop. For nothing. Literally. So if numero uno goes over the edge, the rest follows.

But not all dying mammoths, accidentally or otherwise, were "large bull Imperial Mammoths". Those were the largest, but less than 5% of all Imperial Mammoths. The 'rest' – 95%! – being females, infants, adolescents, and younger males. All considerably smaller than a "large bull Imperial Mammoth". So 8 tons wasn't the average, but the exception to the rule. The 'rule' probably was 4/5/6 tons average.Digit wrote:A large bull Imperial Mammoth was probably the largest mammal ever to walk this planet and the fleshed out bones have been considered as belonging to animals weighing upto 8 tons.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Adamah - soil (red soil) country, earth, ground, land
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.
erets - from an unused root meaning firm, the earth (at large or partively, a land) country, earth, field
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
erets - again
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
adamah - again
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein [is] the breath of life, from under heaven; [and] every thing that [is] in the earth shall die.
And Noah [was] six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that [were] under the whole heaven, were covered.
Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

The Hebrew word eretz, translated "earth'' in Genesis 1:2 in the KJV, can refer to our entire planet in some contexts. For example, in Genesis 1:1, eretz is part of the figure of speech "the heavens and the earth'', which is meant to picture the whole universe. More often, however, the word refers to "the land'', especially the Promised Land. Today Israelis still refer to their country as Eretz Israel (the land of Israel).
