Who cares about the limestone?

Limestone erodes faster than granite.

Limestone erodes faster than granite.
And some limestone is more porous than others.
But in the Schoch discussion it can also be a red herring I think. Schoch has stated that he would like to provide a more conservative date to his estimated construction of the Sphinx but he was using the available paleoclimatology for the area.

New data in that area has been developed in the past 14 years.

Limestone is stone so there is no contradiction. Stop nit-picking, arch. Have you read the whole book, arch? I'm sure if you get past 3 or 4 pages he'll say limestone somewhere. Stop gettin' on the new guys as soon as they get here. And to all of you who have some kind of prejudice against the hall of maat. I have been there and I have posted there and as long as you're not intimidated by the intelligence of some of the other posters I see nothing wrong with the forum. In fact there is less likelihood of being jumped on as soon as you get there than there is here....as long as we have some members who are so defensive and apparently have some kind of phobia against new people. There is nothing wrong with THOM so I wish ya'll would stop trashing it every chance you get. If you're not intelligent enough to post there then don't. I think wee need to stick to the points here and stop attacking each other for the simplest bullshit. I won't mention any names, but you know who I'm talking about. This shit gets real old real fast.

www.egyptianpyramids.com

Construction of pyramids first began in quarries where men chiseled granite blocks until they were the exact shape needed.

The majority of the pyramids are made of limestone, which is a good thing considering the Ancient Egyptians only had copper chisels.

Hitler paved the way for Nazisim but it didnt catch on
in fifty years time he'll either be portrayed as a visionary or a crackpot
considering hes now dating someone who believes that crop circles are made by aliens its not difficult to see which is more likely
On UseNet bringing in Hitler is unofficially considered the closure of the thread. No need to do that.

Colette Dowell thinks crop circles are a money-making hoax, no aliens involved. She spent a lot of time investigating them and has a lot of information proving they are made by humans, not aliens.

So by your logic, that makes Schoch right? javascript:emoticon(':)')

in gettingback to the topic of this thread, can anyone itemize what schoch has really contributed to archaeology? that is , that which is as as valuable as his theory on the sphynx (though i am sure some do not think it was valuable).

Limestone is stone so there is no contradiction
actually there is. limestone is a specific type of stone and has limitations. the word 'stone' is a general word which includes all stones and if you are not specific, then you are either misleading someone or referring to something other than what is normally there.

i wasn't doingthat, just pointing out something that didn't ring right.

wow! frank okayed THOM so it must be good. oh i thought we were allowed our own opinions and not have to fall in line with the crowd? my opinion of course is somewhat different than Frank's or harte's glowing endorsements. which , the last time i looked, was okay to have.

I have never bothered to check anything out about Colette. Never saw the point. After everything I've read about her on a number of websites I find this info. pretty interesting.

Thanks Doug

this isn;t usenet and i was making apoint not a comparison Doug
Colette Dowell thinks crop circles are a money-making hoax, no aliens involved. She spent a lot of time investigating them and has a lot of information proving they are made by humans, not aliens.

then she has revised her earlier belief because she wrote several articles claiming they were completely inexplicable from a human technological standpoint
So by your logic, that makes Schoch right?

How does one "make money" out of crop circles?

Just curious.

you write things claiming that aliens did it
helps of course if you claim to already be an abductee
Although she recollects having unusual and unexplainable events happening during her entire childhood, Colette says it wasn't until about the age of 15 that she realized her experiences were involved with beings other than human. She became conscious of her alien abduction experiences and increasing clairvoyant abilities. She began her search for truths.

Only if people buy them.
they not only buy them
they form religions around them
and the government uses them for cover

Since 1990 there have been over 4000 sightings of what is known as the "Flying Triangle" or "Silent Vulcan" Over Britain. In the early 90's there were a similar number over Belgium, France, Holland and Germany

saves them a fortune
Hollywood of course makes the most money

Seems like a more solid basis than most religions.
