Usually the mother in law it seems.
Nothing worse than an interfering mother-in-law, Dig.

But that probably is the mother-in-law's way of securing higher status, or honor, or dowry or however that particular culture defines the value of a marriage.

Exactly ... that's why I've always been a fully paid up slut!
Best excuse I've heard for a long time!

Oh Lord how I've missed you guys. Maybe that explains my mother-in-law's attitude toward me.

All-
From the late, and great, Janis Joplin;
"Mercedes Benz"
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV ?
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV ?
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town ?
I’m counting on you, Lord, please don’t let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town ?
Everybody!
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends,
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
That’s it!
hoka hey

Bill Maher noted that in ancient times "........ men sacrificed the virgins but no one sacrificed the sluts!"
Exactly ... that's why I've always been a fully paid up slut!

Ish, after sacrificing a few virgins we need to discuss this further in your tent.

Why? What's wrong with it? It's more like furthering the emancipation of adult women with a positive discrimination measure. You could call it a 'deflowering incentive', if you will...

Absolutely, Cogs. I'll have you scrubbed and brought to my tent immediately.

If abduction is akin to slavery, the Iliad and the Odyssey are full of scenes as women being spoken of as the spoils of war - full of the slavery of women.
In Penquin Classic, The Iliad, 1950,
Book 2, line 355, Nestor says, "Let there be no scramble to get home, then, till every man of you has slept with a Trojan wife and taken revenge for all the sweat and tears Helen caused you.
Book 3, line 300, Agamemnon declares, "May the brains of whichever party breaks this treaty be poured out on the ground as that wine is poured, and not only theirs but their children's too; and may other men possess their wives.
Book 4, line 238, Agamemnon again: "... we will carry off their dear wives and little children on board our ships when we have sacked their citadel."
I made notes of different kinds of things in the I&O and in the category of women as spoils of war, there are over two dozen.
Clearly women are also enslaved for the domestic services they can provide as well.
About Achilles' Olympics: The first event was a chariot race, for which he laid out the following splendid prizes: for the winner, a woman skilled in arts and crafts and a tripod with handles holding twenty-two measures.
Women had a really tough time with slavery in ancient times.

I think the subjugation of women is the one thing that all religions are in agreement on Paul....or Marc, if you'd prefer.
You put a Jew, a Christian and a Muslim in the same room and the only thing they are likely to agree on is: "Them bitches need a smack."
I wonder why that is?
