When I went to college it was a mid-term, a final, a bunch or papers, and the prof didn't give a rats ass if you showed up or not.

I really enjoy the University I attend. My professors are great, they are like the ones you mention, it's up to the student to show up , take notes, study, and do the work. I enjoy that teaching style from my professors.

Although, I earned my AA degree at a community college, I found many professors acted as if they are teaching 5th grade, role call, quizzes, more tests than just a mid term and final, and why, I have no idea.

BTW TY Barracuda, I will look into that as well.

One of the things about my course that I always remember was the amount of research etc that we had to do in our own time.
Part of the course was a paper entitled, 'heat engines', which included rockets and pulse jets.
We were all presented with research papers from Peenemunde stamped Strenge Geheime and in German and left to get on with it.
Collins English/German dictionary is a bit short on such technical translations as 'reaction motors'!
