Human worked tools in Texas in 146,000 BC? (give or take 2,000 years?) Am I reading that right?

The whole club will have a diarrhea hemorrhage!
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

So, 96% certainty for a date of 145,000 BC?

That should be enough to start the revolution!

Muahahahahah! I'm sending this to Fred Budinger at Calico! :D He wanted to know who was doing the dating and what the results were. I told him it was Bishcoff but you didn't have the date yet. Ha!

BTW, Fred told me in a private conversation that they have preliminary dating as old as 350kya and thinks Calico will eventially be shown to be far older. He's a lonely man at scientific conventions because of his site and data and your results will lift his spirits. 8)

BTW, if Fred's interested, Min said he'd give us a big discount for group therapy sessions...lol!!

Uh...the idea is to find a therapist who is less crazy than you!

I've gotten through part VII at this point.

One thing about Professor Kissin's comments about historic "bullet manufacture." As you know, I mentioned this possibility myself more to play devil's advocate than anythig else. A fire pit with a blow hole for forced air is not necessary to melt lead....a simple campfire will do. Kissin notes that sulfur can extracted from pyrite and while that is true, it is also true that sulfur is the least used chemical in gunpowder. You need a lot more potassium nitrate and charcoal than sulfur to make gun powder and then you need a lot of specialized knowledge to make usable powder.

Of course, one other thought has now popped into my head. Why would people who had discovered iron have still been spending time making stone points?

Texas Invite

Post by Cognito »

BTW, Cog, please, on my behalf, invite Fred to visit Brushy Creek. I'm more than happy to host his visit, and either stay out of the way while he has a look, or escort, and show him what I think are the more important features. Both sites definitely have the hand ax thing going on.

Gosh, I feel so dirty when I say that...
Charlie, I'll be at Calico this Saturday and I'll give Fred your invite. You'll probably have to play with your own hand axe until then, though. :D

I never heard it called that before.
