It may not help, but you may feel better if you play loud music and throw a few empty beer cans on the lawn.Donna wrote:I wish the nuts lived next door to the Governor. He deserves them!![]()
As for them being a pain in the butt they are that. All you can do is just ignore people that act the way they do.

Ignoring awkward neighbours doesn't always work I fear. The first home my wife and I purchased was a new build with neighbours on both sides. On the one side the neighbour had made a habit of dumping his lawn mowings in our garden, fine, but he continued after we had moved in!
I had a polite word with him and he just looked at me and made no reply, and did it again. this time I had a less polite word with him!
No result!
Solution? I fed them back through the mail slot in his front door!

You are awesome! Don't we all wish that we could collect all the BS we get from the fundies and find a way to feed through their mail slots.Digit wrote:Ignoring awkward neighbours doesn't always work I fear. There is another kind of radical, religious fervor that often bothers me. Adherents have no problem displaying the objects of their furvor on their homes and in their windows. They meet in extremely large gatherings that often become, loud, obnoxious and incite violent reactions. Their caravans will block major freeways and bring traffic down to a crawl. They meet in one anothers homes and scream, cry, or shout for joy. Their Sunday worship services run practically all day and into the evening and many adherents also attend gatherings on Fridays and Saturdays.
Of course I am speaking of those fanatical football fans. I say shovel their B.S. into their mail slots as well.

You're not alone RS, most British people don't understand the game either.
Most think it's an old duffers game, but it can take quite a lot of courage to stand your ground when a hard ball is coming at you at about 85 mph!
And catching the damn thing can be painfull as well!

When I was in London I read an account of a cricket game in a newspaper. For a while I didn't think I was reading "English." Made no sense at all.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

I watched my first full game of Rugby the other night on TV. Compared to them our football players look like a bunch of sissies, what with all the padding and protection. I'll have to learn more about it before I watch the next one, but according to the announcers it didn't have all that many rules.
The aren't that many Le, I think the main difference is we don't permit the forward pass that your game does.
As regards sissies, surprisingly Cricket is much the most dangerous sport in the UK, to the extent that the bleeding hearts now won't allow it played in some schools.
In recent years the amount of body protection for the batsman has increased, with face guards and helmets now the norm, but with some fast bowlers approaching 100mph delivery speeds, a blow to the helmet or ribs will bring a batsman down, and a blow on the thigh can make running impossible.
Even with protection batsmen and wicket keepers regularly break fingers and broken ribs are not unknown.

American Football
Leona, the padding and protection is a two-edged sword. It was initially meant to protect players, but in the long run has allowed far more physical damage to be done since the players hit head on at full speed. The average NFL running back does not reach the minimum 5 years required for retirement due to career ending injuries beforehand.I watched my first full game of Rugby the other night on TV. I can assure you that soccer (European football) is far tougher than American football due to the continuous running and conditioning required just to play competitively. From a conditioning standpoint I could be out of shape, but still play American football well since it's run 5 or 10 yards, take a 30 to 60 second break, and run again. Getting hit isn't so bad as long as the blows are glancing (ie physics comes into play) so long as the person who wants to kill you isn't more than 6'8" and 280lbs.

I played tennis for many years and was an avid watcher of the Wimbledon fortnight, I stopped watching when McEnroe decided that gamesmanship was more important than sportsmanship.
He summed up his attitude with the statement that 'there is no such thing as a good loser, only a loser'! I absolutely disagree!
I also played county level Table Tennis and one of the best, and most enjoyable of matches, was one I lost!
I also played Darts, and traditionally the loser bought the winner a drink, and at one match I won, the loser insisted I have the drink then turned to her team mate and stated 'I hope it chokes him!'
It didn't, I waited till she could see me then through out the window.
I also met my wife at a dart match and was so busy chatting to her I messed up the scoring and was removed from the board!
