This last one still shows that well-used edge. As if it were discarded when no longer useful.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

assuming the "hot" edge is on top.

You know, I've been thinking about this (always dangerous, I know). But assuming that people always have a reason for doing something, They had to have a pretty good reason for shaping these stones.

You don't need to shape a stone to crush a nut or something. Any old stone will suffice as long as you have something to hit it on. You don't really even need a sharp edge for a weapon; a round rock will bash a skull as well as a sharp one and without the investment of time.

So, I keep coming back to the WHY of it and the most obvious answer seems to be woodworking. Larger stones that can cut down trees and smaller stones to shape the wood.

There are also smaller blades for cutting and those seem more suited to butchering meat.

Good point about the wood working Min. Charlie posted one a while back that looked like a triangle - nothing more. But I thought, if one of those edges were sharpened, it would make a good wood planer, maybe used for smoothing a dugout canoe.

Someone mentioned a really big rock you had one time and the discussion was about how much effort it would take to wield it. But, suppose that was not its purpose? Suppose you could prop it up and draw a piece of wood across the sharpened edge? Wouldn't that achieve the same result as planing?

An eleven inch hunk of rock would get tiresome to swing around after a while.
