The experts were the career State Department and CIA guys who told them they were wrong and what to expect.

They were ignored by the political hacks that these bozos brought in to make policy.

This plan was in the works long before Bush was awarded the presidency.

Just look at the names of the guys who signed that letter -- it is a virtual rogues gallery. I guess political hackdom and political corruption go hand in hand, right?

What ever the "reason" was for invading Iraq...
Whether it was for oil or finacial gain is truely hard to understand.
I believe GW just wanted to kick Sadamn's ass for being supported
of suicide bombers in Israel (Sadamn gave several thousand dollars
to the family of decease suicide bombers) along with the fact that
Sadamn had threaten GW Senior.

What ever the reason, I do not see us leaving Iraq at anytime in
the near future. Right now we have a stragegic positon in the Mid-East.
We don't have to ask permission from the Saudi Arabia or Turkey for
a point of disembarking military planes or troops. We now have a
base right in the center of the Mid-East. It's probably only a matter
of time before Iran raises it's head to strike. And until that happens
I just can't see us leaving Iraq. I expect that we will always have
a military base in Iraq now, no matter what the final out come is
in their choice of political rule, whether it's for Theocracy or Democacy.

Personally I have no problem with the idea of theocracy, but I do have a problem with the existing ones.
Either man has free will or he does not, if he does not then why does he need a theocracy to guide him, whatever he does the outcome is ordained.
If he does have free will then he should have the right to excercise it and that does not give theocrats or dictators the right to impose their will over and above the common good.
Theocrats should rule only by the consent of the people.
Theocrats tend to end as dictators it seems.

Roughly what Travis said about the Alamo.

Iraq is not a war.
Iraq is a battle in a global war.
And we will be out of Iraq in about the same time frame as we are out of Japan, The Philppines, Germany, France, Korea, etc.

Japan, Germany, Phillipines, France and Korea and not shooting at us on a daily basis.

They are only shooting at us cos' we get in the way of their main targets, each other!
Remember Min, it was Saddam who forewarned us of this and stated that the Iraqis could only be ruled by terror.

And the Iraqis certainly don't yet show the slightest sign of being 'terrorized' by you guys...

But try to forget all that for a couple hours, stoke up the fires, and have a happy 4th!

http://www.livinginperu.com/news/4719
LIP-ir) -- Peru's Andina News Agency reported today that Puno's Regional Health Directorate sent a group of specialists to the Carancas community in the province of Chucuito near Bolivia to take samples of a meteorite that supposedly landed in the area.

Jorge López Tejada, a representative for the institution, stated that an environmental cleaning crew was going to the area to take earth and water samples from the actual landing site and from surrounding areas.
This story began over the weekend. Now people who have been near the meteorite have symptoms of radiation sickness. There will be follow-up news.

Radiation would be good news, Beags....compared to an Andromeda Strain biological cause.
