Their average cranial capacity is about 30% less than the average for modern humans, however many specimens of Homo erectus had brain sizes that fall well within the range of normal modern human variation.

Of course, brain size doesn't mean everything.....witness Bush.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

They had a brain capacity that came close to us though
Homo Erectus brain capacity 1000cc average
Homo Sapiens brain Capacity 1450cc average

like his brain was two thirds the size of ours dude
and brain size is not indicative of intelligence either

When they say "average" brain capacity, they're talking about hominids that lasted for 2 million years. Naturally some evolution occurred. From 1 million years ago their brains began to get quite a bit larger. Even when the cranial vault was practically as large as ours, he was still called Erectus because of his brow ridges.

They are probably basing the estimate on the average of the skulls they have found.
