Beags, I don't know if you hunted down some of the associated links but you are going to love this one!

That is a good read. I had not followed the links, thanks. After we make sure we've got all the data on Caral, I have some good ol' speculation to do about this "mother city"

So much for the warmonger theory, I guess.

Not necessarily Min. I can't tell for sure if they were indigious to the area, or if they fled from an older city.

If they fled one suspects there would have been weapons around.

And the flutes weren't? :) But yes, everything I've read so far is that they led a peaceful, idyllic existence. Hard to believe.

But did these quiet fishermen just one day say - Let's go over there and build a city. We'll have a large amphitheatre and three pyramids.

Where would anybody come up with an idea like that without having seen one before?

Gotta go.

Did you ever try to fight anyone with a flute?

Pretty decent program about Herod the Great, tonight.

Doesn't your cable company offer it?

I'll have to check. I don't think so though. It seems like we've got so many channels that I haven't paid attention. The regular History channel has UFOs on tonight. So I've just been net surfin'.

Glad it was good. Herod was a pretty good Roman lackey. Big builder too.

I've been reading more on Caral. Until another, older city is found, Caral seems to indeed be the Mother Culture of the Incas. All of it's traditions seem to be continued up into meso-america. It's civilization spread over 35 sq. miles of the Supe Valley and spawned 17 other pyramid complexes.

Occupied since 3,000 BC, it is contemporaneous with Egypt. But on nearly the other side of the world.

Your previous question remains valid.

Where did they suddenly get the idea to build a city with pyramids? There should be some intermediate forms.
