I like to use my own name and think others should too. It make one more conscientious about what they say. But then that's only my opinion. I don't hold it against anyone who uses an alias. I seldom do. I want credit/blame for the things I say. Haven't had any stalkers yet.

Apart from on my own site, I always use Essan. Always have. But I also sign off with my real name - and it's not exactly difficult to find out more about me with a bit of Googling

Personally, I like "Patron Saint of Smart Asses". And we appear to be attending Marduk's Worship Center where unwarranted speculation will result in the appropriate abuse. Of course, some people prefer more abuse than others ... those are Marduk's special "children".

Beagle, I haven't a clue what you are responding to. I assure you I'm not conniving on anything. I do recall someone saying that a poster had a different name on 2 forums. I don't think it was me or that there are any 'you folks'. You are right, you wrote that Ciko was using a different moniker and being the question asking person I was I asked you what it was.

You were the one who brought up Ciko posting under 2 aliases, not me. Ma'at members vary tremendously, you don't have to have any particular beliefs to post on Ma'at and you get, for instance, ardent believers in Bosnian pyramids posting there.

I post under my own name. It's my personal opinion that that is a good idea, particularly when I've seen people posting under several names on the same forum at more or less the same time, supporting each 'other' as though they are different people. And if I criticise anyone, they know who I am. Most of my critics remain anonymous.

I suppose I should explain to all what is going on here. As you know, I have been at the Bosnian forum often lately. Originally it was because there wasn't anything going on here but quarreling. But I found interesting things and posted some here.

That forum is beginning to look like what our Bosnian thread used to look like. Many of our old friends are there. They simply left here and had their own forum.

Then the folks from maat came in (the same ones that were here in this Bosnian thread) and it's deja vu all over again. The difference is that two of the maat members are posting under monikers. The Bosnians are all using different monikers. It's pretty funny.

Doug and Irna continue to use their real names. The other two prefer to hide their identities. No big deal right? It is until you watch someone behind a moniker accusing someone else behind a moniker of being a person who used to post under another moniker. Does that not make you dizzy?

Now, Doug has been fishing around here for something. I've already told him that I'm not telling any names - not even the maat ones. I'm trying to decide whether to register and log in. What I think is particularly dishonest is that these Bosnians see the maat folks as "sceptics". They don't realize that they are all from just one web site.

If I join up I'm certain to let them know that much.

I'm not fishing for anything, Lee. At least not about any particular poster. I do know about the arguments about Stellarchaser and they are interesting, that's all, but I see no point in pursuing them and I certainly don't plan to.

Marduk is a poster on Ma'at, he has nothing to do with running the board and he's been banned a couple of times. . His real name is well known, and I will also say that although he doesn't think there are any pyramids in Bosnia, he does have his own original take on some things!

well i agree with these people right here. i was on a forum oncewhere individuals had twoor more i.d.s and you never knew whom you were talking to andit was very frustrating.

i usually use archaeologist whereever i go but since the backlash here, i didn't on the hall of maat as i wanted to see if i could get some fresh responses without the bias automatically kicking in.

i have since deleted that site from my records as its design is not something i prefer to use. plus when people have to put their positions in their signatures...

i appreciate the fact that you do that beagle as i rarely go over there and read the 'yes it is' 'no it isn't ' foreplay that goes on for pages and pages. i am more interested in concrete progression than that type of opinion. had enough of it here and it got old real fast.

Archaeologist, the only people at Ma'at who have to (well, who are expected to would be more accurate) put positions in their signatures are the Directors and Moderators. It seems only reasonable that those people identify themselves.
