All you have to do is post "evidence" showing that everyone else is wrong and you are right.
I'll wait. I've got time.

Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

On the subject of the cost of digging something up, I heard a figure somewhere (sorry to be vague) that so far they've uncovered something like 20% of what they suspect is there in Mexico. They just don't have the funds.
Mind you, it is true that Mexico is pretty much artefact saturated. Even I found something.
Better not say any more.
You never know who might be listening.
I was never here.
Ain't none of you heard nuthin', right!

Pompeii is a good example. It's the most famous archaeological site in the world but much of it remains unexcavated.
It's a good thing, too, because everytime it rains the parts that have been excavated are degraded. If you are going to dig something up you had better be able to conserve it, not just study it. Otherwise, you are better off leaving it in the ground.

I have been watching the shows as I can, I've gotten through the forgeries. Some of the subject matter is inappropriate(Herod) for small children so I have to wait til they are asleep.
As I told minimalist I haven't laughed this much in a long time. Simcha is elevating kitsch to a new level.
Confession time, I had never heard of the James ossuary until I came to this site some months back. People were discussing it at the time and I did my first online search finding out more about it.
I was unable to come to any conclusions at that time and can't say that this two part program helped me at all. I think there is a lot of brangling(To wrangle; to dispute contentiously; to squabble) on both sides and no one has really 'proven' anything to my satisfaction. Kind of like that bigfoot issue, the jury is still out.
I have to agree with arch on Finkelsteins manner
He treated/looked at Jacobivichi(sp?) like a he was a bug.(While the jury is still out on that one too
)
I am learning a few things from the episodes too(the Philistine temple construction for one)so feel it is worth it to sift through the dross for the flecks of gold. Unlike others I find Simchas digressions and 50'sand 60's clips hilarious. Inappropriate for the forum possibly but come on guys he named his show the naked archaeologist how serious could he have wanted people to take him?
I have my own theory about the seige but as I don't wish to be laughed off the forum I will only share it with the select few before publishing. I will say that I was forced after careful review to discard all notions of the possible intervention by either Santa or the tooth fairy.

It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Good for Finkelstein! He was probably sitting there thinking how he was going to strangle his agent for booking him on this show!He treated/looked at Jacobivichi(sp?) like a he was a bug.

archaeologists have agents??Good for Finkelstein! He was probably sitting there thinking how he was going to strangle his agent for booking him on this show!
well there can be a serious connotation that can come with that title-- archaeology {gists} unmasked, what it is all about and so on. i see in jacobovici's style a man with an i.q. of about 22 investigating a field that requires a minimum i.q. of 122.Inappropriate for the forum possibly but come on guys he named his show the naked archaeologist how serious could he have wanted people to take him
every time he speaks i start to shudder as he is not really investigating the topic but using it as a forum to be a bad entertainer or comedian. i guess i expect more from the history channel than it offers.
i watched the one entitled 'Jesus' last night and it was okay, it would have been better if J. was not there but behind the camera somewhere.
the question for pompeii is: do they need to dig the whole site up? there is so much extra -data from outside sources that is a complete excavation beneficial? we know what destroyed it, we know all about roman life so what is thre that would add to our knowledge?Pompeii is a good example. It's the most famous archaeological site in the world but much of it remains unexcavated
now something like Hazor or Megiddo and so on a complete excavation is warranted because there is so little that we do know about these sites. {as an example}

I figured you'd have been jumping through the screen when they were talking about the reasons for falsifying Bethlehem as Jesus' birthplace.

i let it go, he didn't present anything credible or enough evidence to support the theory. there is always someone from the fringe who has a different idea and can 'prove' it. remember ron wyatt??figured you'd have been jumping through the screen when they were talking about the reasons for falsifying Bethlehem as Jesus' birthplace

Well....the fact that Nazareth didn't seem to exist in the early first century AD is pretty convincing, too.

Someone made a comment on my other board to the effect that if Nazareth existed at all in the first century it was so small that the most likely response to "Jesus of Nazareth" would have been "Jesus of Where?"

They are not broadcasting them over the weekend. If memory serves they will show some more beginning some time next week.
